Chełmiana Chełm Shines With Victory Over Stal Stalowa Wola

A strong performance against higher league rivals boosts Chełmiana's confidence for the upcoming season.

Chełmiana Chełm delivered an impressive performance as they overcame Stal Stalowa Wola with a decisive score of 4:1 during their recent pre-season friendly. This victory stood out not just for the final score but for the manner in which the team showcased their potential against higher league opposition.

The match, held away at Stal Stalowa Wola's home ground, showcased Chełmiana under the guidance of manager Grzegorz Bonin. Although Stal fielded primarily reserve players—due to their first team being occupied with another match against Wieczystą Kraków—Chełmiana’s players took full advantage of the situation, asserting their dominance on the pitch.

Bonin selected a starting eleven closely resembling what could be seen during their upcoming league opener against Avia Świdnik. Returning from injury, goalkeeper Michał Jerke claimed the spot between the posts, supported by defenders Kacper Wiatrak, Maksymilian Cichocki, Maksim Kvenstar, and Piotr Zmorzyński. The midfield saw Piotr Piekarski playing the defensive role, with Michał Kobiałka and Michal Klec operating offensively. New acquisition Karol Sałamaj and Bartłomiej Korbecki occupied the wings, providing pace and creativity.

Chełmiana struck first when Krystian Mroczek found the back of the net after just 23 minutes, assisted by Sałamaj. Despite opportunities to extend their lead—most notable was Korbecki’s failed one-on-one chance—they went to halftime with the lead firmly held.

Changing strategy after the break, Bonin substituted Jerke for Jakub Grzywaczewski and made several other tactical switches to keep the team fresh and engaged. That said, the beginning of the second half saw Stal Stalowa Wola equalize through Adrian Piotrowski, causing some nervous moments for the Chełmiana defense.

Yet, rather than being deterred, Chełmiana regained control rapidly. By the 62-minute mark, Jakub Kasprzyk netted what would be the decisive goal following a pinpoint pass from teammate Paweł Ofiara. Following this, it was all Chełmiana, with Perdun doubling the advantage just minutes later by cleverly finishing another set-up.

Adding to the tally, Perdun consistently found himself among the goal-scoring opportunities, sealing the match with his second goal at 76 minutes, making it 4:1. Chełmiana showcased both their depth and talent, indicating promising prospects for the season and indicating their readiness for the league challenges to come. Absent from this match, due to various reasons, were key players like Fryderyk Misztal and Krystian Wójcik, leaving room for younger players to step up and perform.

This match serves not just as preparation but as motivation for Chełmiana as they continue their build-up toward the league season. With performances like this, resolve and teamwork could very well frame their forthcoming campaign positively, leaving fans excited for what’s to come.
