In a more striking example, a photo taken during a trip to Japan revealed ChatGPT's prowess; it pinpointed the exact location as "Arashiyama, Kyoto, Japan, near the Togetsukyo Bridge, looking across the Katsura River." This level of accuracy demonstrates the advancements in the AI's reasoning models.

Moreover, when reporters uploaded screenshots from the profile of a popular Instagram model, ChatGPT was able to identify the general location and even suggest specific high-rise apartments and a home address. While the address mentioned is known to be a popular spot among influencers and TV productions, the specificity of the AI's response was both impressive and concerning.

Warmenhoven stated, "Even if you don't use AI, your metadata could be integrated without your consent."

Instagram presents its own set of challenges, as implicit engagement occurs without dedicated AI settings, leading to users' feed activity becoming training data for the AI. Warmenhoven emphasized that users often interact with AI before they even realize it, a design choice that raises ethical questions. He pointed out that two seemingly identical conversations could have vastly different privacy implications based on whether AI is involved.

Furthermore, Warmenhoven noted that even if users ignore AI features, the technology continues to observe and shape their experiences on these platforms. He advocates for universal opt-in and opt-out functions for responsible AI deployment across all Meta platforms. According to him, a setting that allows users to enable or disable AI features would enhance transparency and user control.
