At the 2025 Bangkok International Motor Show, CHANGAN Automobile launched its latest model, the DEEPAL S05, stunning attendees with an exciting presentation of its electric vehicle possibilities and functionalities. The DEEPAL S05, available in both electric (EV) and range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) forms, is designed to meet diverse customer needs, aiming for a remarkable driving experience.
The DEEPAL S05 comes in five vibrant colors: silver, blue, white, black, and teal. For potential buyers, the pricing varies significantly between models. The DEEPAL S05 REEV is priced at 999,000 baht for the MAX version and 949,000 baht for the PLUS version. Meanwhile, the DEEPAL S05 BEV is available for 899,000 baht for the MAX version, 849,000 baht for the PLUS version, and 799,000 baht for the LITE version.
CHANGAN confirms that the EV version of the DEEPAL S05 boasts an impressive range of up to 470 kilometers based on the NEDC standard. In contrast, the REEV model operates mainly on electric power but comes equipped with a range-extending engine. This design alleviates range anxiety by allowing the car to achieve a maximum range of 1,000 kilometers when both battery and fuel tanks are full.
Specifically, the DEEPAL S05 REEV can travel up to 170 kilometers solely on electric power. It is powered by a 27.28 kWh battery and a 1,497 cc, four-cylinder, 16-valve VVT range extender engine, showcasing CHANGAN's dedication to innovative vehicle technology. With a 44.9-liter fuel tank, drivers can achieve extended journeys without fear of running out of battery power.
The performance specifications are equally compelling. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) delivers agility and sharp handling, supported by a 50:50 weight distribution and a sophisticated multi-link suspension system. The electric motor churns out an impressive 320 Newton-meters of torque, allowing acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.3 seconds for the BEV version and 7.9 seconds for the REEV version.
To enhance the driving experience further, the DEEPAL S05 is designed for comfort, with an ergonomic interior layout, user-friendly control setups, and supportive seating. Passengers can enjoy the benefits of an Augmented Reality Head-Up Display (AR-HUD), which enhances focus and provides accessible driving information.
Soundproofing features, including 5 mm thick frameless windows and 40 soundproofing materials, ensure that cabin noise levels are kept to a minimum, registering only 62 decibels at a speed of 100 km/h. As for the exterior, the DEEPAL S05 boasts a modern design inspired by spacecraft, highlighted by its Interstellar Wing Design and an exceptional drag coefficient of 0.25Cd. The full-width LED taillights and frameless doors bring an added touch of luxury and distinction.
Wheels are available in stylish 18-inch alloy (upgradable to 20 inches), and a 1.9 square meter panoramic sunroof captivates with a spacious feel. The exterior design delights with dynamic double waistlines and elegantly crafted details that attract attention, further reinforced by concealed electric door handles for a sleek look.
Inside, the DEEPAL S05 features an interactive, immersive cabin equipped with 64-color ambient lighting to customize the driving environment, all managed through a 15.4-inch 2.5K Sunflower Screen guided by the DEEPAL OS 3.0 system. Capable of streaming services and various applications, the system ensures a user-friendly experience, beneficial for both drivers and passengers.
Another innovative feature is the Vehicle to Load (V2L) technology, allowing for energy distribution up to 6 kilowatts to power external devices. This flexibility makes the DEEPAL S05 a mobile entertainment center, perfect for outdoor movie experiences or powering appliances on the go.
In conjunction with the car launch, CHANGAN is offering excellent promotions for potential buyers. The S05 Premium Care package includes complimentary first-year insurance, a home charger with installation service, a mobile charging cable, and an 8-year battery warranty or 160,000 kilometers. With an LFP battery of 31.18 kilowatts, it offers a range of 131 kilometers on electric and can reach over 900 kilometers using the range extender.
