Chandrababu Naidu Champions Development Initiatives In Andhra Pradesh

The Chief Minister distributes pensions and unveils plans for remote work and welfare programs, reflecting his governance vision.

On Saturday, February 1, 2025, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu made headlines as he distributed pensions at the NTR Pension program held at Motakatla village within the Rayachoti constituency of Annamayya district. This event wasn't just about the distribution of financial aid; it was also about celebrating the legacy of former chief minister N.T. Rama Rao (NTR), as Naidu unveiled a statue of him earlier the same day.

During the program, Naidu visited the homes of pension beneficiaries, personally handing over their pension funds. This direct engagement aimed at promoting social welfare under the NTR Bharosa pension scheme exemplifies his commitment to grassroots governance, even on weekends.

“Those who believed in me prospered,” Naidu stated, underscoring the benefits his leadership has brought to various communities. This statement reflects his confidence and the emphasis he places on his vision for economic development, particularly through the growth of the IT sector during his administration.

Recollecting his efforts to transform Hyderabad’s IT industry, Naidu noted, “When Bill Gates introduced the internet, the world became a global village.” He reminisced about how he championed initiatives to bring high technology to Andhra Pradesh, leading to the creation of 300 engineering colleges, which has significantly boosted the local skillset and positioned many Telugu professionals favorably on the global stage.

Naidu did not shy away from discussing the challenges he faced, including his recent arrest, which sparked protests from Telugu communities worldwide. He remarked, “When I was arrested, Telugu people in 80 countries protested for 53 days.” This statement echoes the strong international support he enjoys, which he argues is indicative of his longstanding relationship with the public.

A significant theme of Naidu’s address was his vision to turn Andhra Pradeshintoa center for remote work. “We will create training facilities and job opportunities in rural areas and small towns,” he expressed, outlining his aspirations to facilitate remote work opportunities across the state. This initiative will encourage the development of co-working spaces and job training, fostering employment growth outside major urban centers.

Naidu also introduced the concept of 'WhatsApp Governance,' inspired by his son, Nara Lokesh. This modern governance model aims to deliver 161 government services digitally and has reportedly resolved numerous citizen requests swiftly within seven months. Naidu proclaimed, “We have delivered more than what was promised, repaying the trust of the people.”

Highlighting welfare initiatives, he remarked, “I introduced the Deepam scheme to avoid hardships faced by my mother,” which showcases his emotional connection to social policies. He announced plans to provide three LPG cylinders free of charge under this scheme and mentioned the forthcoming 'Talli Ki Vandanam' initiative aimed at providing financial aid to mothers based on their household size.

During the program, Naidu reiterated the support for farmers under the Rythu Bharosa scheme, promising financial assistance of ₹20,000 per farmer with contributions from the central government. His advocacy for farmers reflects notable investments too. He stated, “We have spent ₹6 crore in this district alone to create pothole-free roads,” emphasizing the tangible benefits of his administration.

Another highlight of his address was the discussion surrounding irrigation projects. Naidu expressed pride for following NTR's legacy, stating, “Rayalaseema's development today is because of NTR,” and mentioned investments totaling ₹64,000 crore made during his previous terms aimed at enhancing irrigation across the region. He criticized past government neglect, condemning financial mismanagement and the loss of opportunities for farmers.

Naidu extended his criticisms to the previous YSR Congress Party government, attributing significant economic turmoil to their tenure and arguing for the necessity to hold leaders accountable based on their performance. He charged, “Think about who has done justice to you,” urging voters to make informed choices based on merit rather than caste or region.

His commitment to addressing issues related to water scarcity was reiterated during the event. Naidu assured attendees of the completion of the Godavari-Banakacharla project, promising water for every agricultural acre. He spoke about the substantial ₹12,000 crore allocated by the Central government for significant projects which he believes are pivotal for the state’s future.

Wrapping up his address, Naidu took the opportunity to urge the public to reflect on the leadership they desire moving forward, hinting at his intentions for the upcoming elections. The meeting detailed his plans to create nearly 20 million jobs over the next five years, with hopes of attracting investments and boosting local economies.

Through these various initiatives and announcements, Chandrababu Naidu painted a picture of proactive governance aimed at not only prosperity but also inclusivity, paving the way for Andhra Pradesh’s development on multiple fronts.
