Celebrity Hairstylist Graham Nation Dies Unexpectedly At 39

Tributes pour in for Graham Nation, leaving behind family and friends heartbroken.

Celebrities and friends are mourning the loss of Graham Nation, the talented hairstylist who has styled many stars throughout his career, after he tragically died at just 39 years old.

Known for his remarkable work with A-listers such as Demi Moore, Jared Leto, and Venus Williams, Nation, born Graham Cheek, passed away suddenly at a gym in Los Angeles on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2024. The L.A. County Department of Medical Examiner confirmed the news, stating the cause of death is currently under investigation.

Notably, just days before his death, Nation shared his excitement about styling Catherine O'Hara for her Michelob Ultra Super Bowl advertisement. On February 10, he joyfully posted on Instagram: "My first ever Super Bowl commercial!! What an absolute blast to work on. Thank you Catherine O'Hara for having me be apart of this epic commercial!"

Graham had previously enjoyed a brief romantic relationship with actress and singer Sheridan Smith, who acknowledged her feelings for him as she referred to him as her "dream man". The two dated for several months during 2017, living together at Smith’s home before eventually separating. Despite their breakup, sources reported there were no hard feelings between the pair, with Smith feeling rather lonely afterward.

A source disclosed, "There is no animosity and Graham is still there for her, but she feels quite lonely at the moment," highlighting the amicable relationship they maintained.

Following Graham's sudden death, tributes started pouring onto social media. Erin Foster, who remembered the time they shared together, expressed her thoughts saying: "I cannot stop thinking about and missing @grahamnation. He left behind a 6-month-old baby. We shared diapers and sleep training tips. I can’t stop thinking about his partner Tonya and what she must be going through. Losing her partner and now raising their son alone." Her heartfelt message captured the sense of loss among those close to him.

Divinity Ray, another stylist and close friend of Graham, reflected on their decade-long friendship: "10 years of knowing you, from cutting hair in our hometown to witnessing you take LA by storm. You were never too busy to be thoughtful. You were never too big to smile at everyone. You were the most incomprehensible artist." Ray's tribute illustrated not just the talent of Graham but also down-to-earth personality.

Nation’s talent agency, The Wall Group, released an emotional statement summarizing the sentiments shared by many: "Graham was a one-of-a-kind soul who impacted every single person he met. We are honoured to have been part of his way and to have helped him share his artistry with the world. Our hearts are broken and we will miss him dearly," they expressed poignantly.

Throughout his impressive career, Graham not only styled high-profile clients but also contributed as an educator and ambassador for renowned hair brands like SexyHair and Fekkai. His work graced many prominent magazine covers including British Vogue, Elle, and Marie Claire.

He leaves behind his partner, Tonya Brewer, and their young son, Romeo, who is only six months old. The loss of Graham is felt deeply, not just by his family but also by the countless people whose lives he touched through his artistry and warm spirit.

A GoFundMe account has been established to aid his partner and child during this difficult time, showcasing the community's support and love for the family. Friends of the family set it up, with the hope of minimizing financial hardships as they navigate the days of healing ahead. It has raised significant funds already, highlighting the far-reaching impact Graham had on those around him.

Although Graham Nation's life was tragically cut short, his legacy as not only a stylist but as a caring partner and dedicated father will live on. Those who had the privilege of knowing him will undoubtedly cherish the memories he left behind.
