Celebrity Chefs Spark Joy On Taiwan's New Year Eve Show

Stars compete hilariously to create traditional dishes, engaging viewers for the festive celebration.

On New Year's Eve, Taiwanese entertainment took center stage with the highly anticipated culinary competition featured on the special program "MRT First Feast." Hosted by Haozi, the event saw popular Taiwanese celebrities competing to create traditional dishes, complete with humorous antics and plenty of entertainment.

Among the participants were Zhang Wenqi, Wu Yixuan, Yang Xiuhui, Liao Hekun, and Lan Lan, all tasked with impressing the audience and judges. Joining them were guest chef Wu Bingcheng, who played the role of head judge, ensuring the teams delivered their best efforts.

The competition format revolved around creating delectable New Year dishes, encouraging viewers to embrace the festive spirit as celebrities showed off their cooking skills—or lack thereof! Viewers were treated to comical moments as several participants, including Zhang Wenqi, openly admitted to having very little culinary experience. "Good thing I have teammates like this, I feel more at ease," she expressed, showcasing her reliance on team support.

Throughout the competition, the atmosphere was lively and filled with laughter. Creative interactions, like when Liao Hekun jokingly introduced himself, saying, "Hello everyone! I'm the 'cold star' who makes people feel chilly," added to the entertainment factor. Served with delight, his quip earned eye-rolls and laughter from his fellow contestants.

Participants were split between two teams—the "Golden Chef Team," led by the renowned chefs Zhaolin and Shuiwa, and the "Red Chef Team," which included the likes of Yang Xiuhui and others. To aid their culinary endeavors, many of the contestants resorted to cheat sheets, raising eyebrows and laughter alike. Zhang Wenqi's extravagant A3-sized cheat sheet was loaded with illustrated recipes, emphasizing her desire to succeed.

Despite the light-hearted approach, the competition underscored the sincere effort by these celebrities to engage with the audience and celebrate the year's beginning. With both teams dazzling viewers with their unique takes on traditional dishes, the program guaranteed fun-filled moments complemented by culinary creativity.

Overall, the event reflected the spirit of the occasion—bringing together friends, laughter, and the shared joy of good food. With New Year's Eve marked by such celebrations, it is no wonder the Taiwanese entertainment scene continues thriving, showcasing the passionate and humorous side of its celebrities.
