Channel 4 has officially confirmed the exciting lineup for the 2025 season of The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer. This special edition of the beloved baking competition promises to showcase various stars as they vie for the prestigious title of Star Baker. Fans can eagerly anticipate its return to screens this spring, though the exact release date remains to be announced.
This year, the series features familiar faces along with some newcomers. After Prue Leith announced last year her decision to step back from the celebrity edition, she will be replaced by Caroline Waldegrave OBE, who has been working alongside Prue since the 1970s. Waldegrave, the former co-owner and managing director of Leiths School of Food and Wine, has a wealth of culinary knowledge and experience, making her well-suited for this role.
Returning to host the show are Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding, whose camaraderie and humor add to the bake-off experience. A diverse group of contestants is set to compete, including TV presenter Kate Garraway, radio host Roman Kemp, and celebrity podcaster Sarah Beeny. Other notable contestants include comedian Adam Buxton, Chicken Shop Date host Amelia Dimoldenberg, and singer Self Esteem, also known as Rebecca Lucy Taylor. With such varied backgrounds, followers of the show can expect unique personalities and perspectives throughout the competition.
The show will continue to follow its beloved structure, with four celebrities participating each episode, showcasing their baking skills through Signature, Technical, and Showstopper rounds. Caroline and Paul Hollywood will judge their creations and decide on the Star Baker for each episode.
Prue Leith expressed her love for the show and explained her decision to take on fewer commitments due to the demanding filming schedule. "I absolutely love working on Bake Off and am looking forward to filming the next series and meeting our new bakers. I am only stepping back from the Celebrity series, which is just a question of the filming commitment involved as we make these shows back to back," she stated, highlighting her anticipation for the regular version of the show.
During her candid appearance on Loose Women, Prue did not shy away from discussing the challenges of aging. She shared, "It takes me 10 minutes to get myself out of bed in the morning. If I don't do the exercises I can't move. There's all sorts of things wrong with old age." Despite these hurdles, she remains optimistic and focused on making the most of her time, adding, "You know, you are very conscious this is nearly the end, though I agree you then decide to make the most of it and have fun. I think what we're all saying is we don't care what people think as much as we did and to be honest I don't even care if I'm cancelled."
The 2025 edition of The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer certainly looks like it will deliver on excitement, humor, and culinary creativity. Fans are eagerly awaiting the first look at the trials and triumphs of this star-studded bake-off. With the duo of Caroline Waldegrave and Paul Hollywood at the judging helm, viewers are set for another thrilling season filled with bakes, laughs, and perhaps some unexpected surprises.
