Celebrities Rally Behind Trzaskowski Ahead Of Polish Elections

Katarzyna Warnke and Małgorzata Trzaskowska highlight key issues for voters

In a politically charged atmosphere, Polish actress Katarzyna Warnke has publicly endorsed Rafał Trzaskowski, the candidate from the Civic Coalition (KO), for the upcoming presidential elections. Warnke, known for her outspoken views, took to Instagram to express her support, stating, "It’s about time! For a civic expression:) To which I have the right, like everyone else, right?" This endorsement comes as Trzaskowski prepares to challenge incumbent President Andrzej Duda in the elections set for May 18, 2025.

Warnke articulated her reasons for supporting Trzaskowski, emphasizing her desire for a candidate with a realistic chance of winning. She pointedly remarked, "I don’t want a candidate who cannot win; I don’t want a candidate with hooligan-like manners and ties to the underworld, gangsters – that doesn’t impress me; I also don’t want someone who cannot decide whether they are a civic or party candidate, even though we all know that the civic angle is a sham. I cannot tolerate dishonesty in a candidate; I don’t want a candidate who is church-affiliated, as I believe the politics of a modern state cannot serve the Church. The Church is decaying from politics; I don’t want a loser who doesn’t know how to make scrambled eggs and even brags about it; I don’t want someone who runs from journalists, and even if they manage to stay, they can’t answer the simplest questions about their program and previously expressed views from which they are now retreating; I also don’t want someone who has an advisor who thinks sports harm women (not to mention the rest); I don’t want someone who doesn’t acknowledge equality between men and women or recognize minority rights – that’s a no-brainer; I don’t want someone who doesn’t see Poland’s strength in Europe.”

What does Warnke appreciate in Trzaskowski? She admires his openness, communication skills, and the absence of scandals in his background. "I like candidate Rafał Trzaskowski: with his openness, communication skills, lack of scandals; fluent knowledge of foreign languages; and vast, years-long experience managing the capital as its President (I live in Warsaw, I know what I’m talking about); I like what he says and how he says it… and I really like Mrs. Małgorzata Trzaskowska. Very much. Because her involvement is simply wonderful, full of substance and good energy – the relationship between these two really bodes well:) Maybe it’s time to stop the silence, weak smiles, and lack of engagement that the current First Lady presents?? The other candidates’ wives are simply not visible, which foretells the same lack of style as the current Lady.”

The political scene is heating up, with Trzaskowski’s wife, Małgorzata Trzaskowska, taking the stage at a campaign rally in Poznań on the same day as Warnke's endorsement. Speaking not just as Rafał’s wife but as a woman and mother, Małgorzata expressed her concerns for the future of their children, stating, "I think like any mother, I wake up and fall asleep thinking about their plans, school, and relationships with peers. The future of all Polish children is at stake in these elections." She emphasized the importance of ensuring their children live in a safe country managed by wise, competent, and honest people with a strong moral backbone. "We need leaders who can be role models for children and youth," she added.

During the rally, Małgorzata also encouraged women to make their voices heard, saying, "Be sure, be proud, because women have a voice." Her passionate speech resonated with the crowd, who responded with cheers and applause.

Rafał Trzaskowski, addressing the same rally, took the opportunity to criticize his opponent, Karol Nawrocki, who is supported by the ruling Law and Justice party (PiS). He stated, "Today there was supposed to be a big rally for the president. And what turned out? The truly big rally is here." He asserted his position as a candidate for the people, declaring, "I am your candidate, a citizen candidate." Trzaskowski emphasized the need for a president who is not a puppet of Kaczyński, the leader of PiS, asserting that Poland deserves a leader chosen by the people rather than one imposed by party decisions.

Trzaskowski did not hold back in his critique of the current political climate, stating, "Today in Łódź, unfortunately, PiS once again organized a festival of hatred, division, and playing on bad emotions. We need positive emotions, we need community, we need to shed our complexes and look with true attention, seriousness, and hope towards the future. And then all of Poland will win!" His remarks reflect a broader sentiment among opposition supporters who are eager for a change in leadership.

The campaign rally, which took place on April 27, 2025, at Plac Wolności in Poznań, was marked by a sense of urgency as the elections draw closer. The presidential elections will take place on May 18, with a potential second round scheduled for June 1.

As the political landscape shifts, with celebrities like Warnke voicing their opinions and spouses like Małgorzata stepping into the spotlight, the upcoming elections promise to be a pivotal moment for Poland. The stakes are high as candidates vie for the support of an electorate eager for change and a brighter future.
