Celebrations Of Love And Art Highlight Romanian Culture

The Braila Library hosts love story exhibition as students gear up for Bacalaureate simulations.

From February 24 to March 2, 2025, the Adult Book Lending Section of the Braila County Library will host a documentary exhibition titled 'Povești de dragoste în literatura română', marking the celebration of Dragobete. This popular holiday, celebrated annually on February 24, symbolizes love and the arrival of spring, as well as the renewal of nature and love.

Traditionally, this day is marked by various customs and superstitions, where couples express their feelings and engage in rituals for luck throughout the year. Young people dress festively, meet within communities, exchange symbolic gifts and flowers, and partake in folk songs and dances, creating a festive atmosphere.

The exhibition gathers works from notable Romanian authors who have long captivated audiences with their enchanting love stories. Included are renowned novels still cherished across generations, as well as more recent publications. Highlights feature literary pieces from classical masters such as Liviu Rebreanu, Camil Petrescu, George Călinescu, Cella Serghi, Ionel Teodoreanu, Mihail Sebastian, Mircea Eliade, Fănuș Neagu, Mihail Drumeș, and G. M. Zamfirescu. Contemporary writers such as Nora Iuga, Doina Ruști, Daniela Zeca, Irina Binder, Chris Simion, and Corina Cândea will also be represented.

The exhibition is organized by librarian Florentina Petcu, aiming to celebrate the diversity and richness of romantic narratives within Romanian literature.

On March 1, 2025, the Romanian National Opera Cluj-Napoca will hold the final recital of the masterclass at 6:30 PM, featuring members of the 'Lya Hubic' Opera Studio. Throughout February, these young artists received daily mentoring from experts, including Liora Maurer, Sharon Mohar, and Tatiana Lisnic, honing their operatic skills.

During this culminating event, the artists will showcase remarkable interpretive skills through celebrated pieces from the opera repertoire. Attendees can expect to enjoy selections from masterpieces such as 'Carmen' and 'The Pearl Fishers' by Georges Bizet, 'The Daughter of the Regiment' by Gaetano Donizetti, and 'Werther' by Jules Massenet, among other exquisite musical moments. This recital promises to be filled with emotion and artistic beauty as these talented voices bring vibrant stories and beloved characters to life.

Entry to the event is free, subject to available seating, and interested attendees are required to register through a specified form. The recital is expected to conclude around 8:30 PM.

On another front, the preparation for the 2025 Baccalaureate exam simulation for 12th-grade students is set for March 24-27, 2025. The first written exam on March 24 will focus on Romanian Language and Literature, providing students with the important opportunity to assess their readiness ahead of the final summer exam.

The simulation schedule is as follows: March 24, 2025: Written test on Romanian Language and Literature; March 25, 2025: Mandatory profile test (Mathematics or History); March 26, 2025: Elective profile and specialization test; March 27, 2025: Mother tongue test (for students from institutions teaching minority languages); April 8, 2025: Results communication.

For effective preparation, students are encouraged to consult official simulation materials available on the Ministry of Education's website, detailing the key content studied for each subject. Previous models of subjects and scoring guides published can also serve as useful learning tools. The simulation will mimic conditions similar to the actual exam starting at 9:00 AM, with access allowed until 8:30 AM, requiring identification for entry.

Written tests will last three hours, with evaluations conducted according to the guidelines set by the Ministry of Education. Students may request results to be noted only at the written request of themselves or their parents. This period offers students a chance to identify their strengths and areas needing improvement, ensuring proper preparation for the summer Baccalaureate exam.
