CBSE Set To Announce Class 10 And 12 Results Soon

With over 44 lakh students waiting, new guidelines aim to enhance transparency in result verification.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is gearing up for the announcement of the 2025 Class 10 and Class 12 exam results, with expectations pointing towards a mid-May release. As more than 44 lakh students await their scores, the board has made significant changes to the post-result process that aims to enhance transparency and fairness.

According to media reports, the CBSE results for both classes could be released as soon as May 8, 2025. This aligns with historical trends, as the board has typically announced results in the second week of May. Last year, results were declared on May 13, and in 2023, they were announced on May 12. The official date and time for the 2025 results have yet to be confirmed, but students are encouraged to keep an eye on the CBSE’s official websites, including cbse.gov.in and results.cbse.nic.in.

This year, the examinations, which spanned from February 15 to April 4, saw participation from approximately 24.12 lakh students for Class 10 and 17.88 lakh for Class 12. Students will be able to check their results through various platforms, including the CBSE’s official websites, DigiLocker, SMS, and the UMANG app.

In a bid to streamline the grievance redressal process, CBSE has revised the sequence of activities for students seeking to address issues related to their examination results. Under the new guidelines, students must first apply for a photocopy of their evaluated answer book before moving on to verification of marks or re-evaluation requests. This change is intended to provide students with a clearer understanding of their evaluation before deciding on further actions.

Previously, the process allowed students to request verification of their marks before obtaining their answer scripts. Now, the steps are as follows:

  • Apply for a photocopy of the evaluated answer book.

  • Proceed to verification of marks, re-evaluation, or both.

CBSE has emphasized that these changes aim to improve transparency and help students make informed decisions regarding their evaluations. Additionally, the board has clarified that grace marks may be awarded if students narrowly miss the passing criteria. For Class 10, students need to secure 33 percent overall, combining theory and internal assessment, while Class 12 students must achieve 33 percent separately in both theory and practical papers.

In a recent development, CBSE also addressed misinformation circulating on social media regarding the results announcement. On May 2, 2025, the board confirmed that a letter claiming to provide details about the results was fake and not issued by any authorized CBSE official. They urged students, parents, and stakeholders to be cautious and refrain from trusting unverified information.

As the announcement date approaches, students are advised to regularly check the official websites for updates. Once the results are released, they will be able to access their provisional marksheets by entering their roll number, school number, and admit card ID. The board will also provide important details such as overall pass percentages, pass percentages by gender, and information about supplementary exams during the press conference following the results announcement.

For those looking to check their results online, here are the steps:

  1. Visit any of the official websites: results.cbse.nic.in, cbse.gov.in, or results.gov.in.

  2. Click on the link for "CBSE 10th Result 2025" or "CBSE 12th Result 2025."

  3. Enter your roll number, admit card number, and school number.

  4. Your result will be displayed on the screen.

  5. Download and print the marksheet for future reference.

Students can also access their results via SMS by sending a message in a specific format to a designated number. This option is especially useful for those who may face connectivity issues during the online rush.

With the clock ticking down to the results announcement, the anticipation among students is palpable. The changes in the grievance redressal process reflect CBSE’s commitment to ensuring fairness and clarity in the evaluation process, which is crucial for students navigating their academic futures. As the board prepares to release the results, stakeholders are reminded to remain vigilant against misinformation and to rely on official channels for updates.

Ultimately, the 2025 CBSE results will not only determine the academic paths for millions but also reflect the board's ongoing efforts to adapt and improve its processes in response to students' needs.
