The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is gearing up to conduct the Class 10 Social Science Board Exam on February 25, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. This year, the exam will see participation from over 24 lakh students across 7,842 exam centers, highlighting the scale of this important event.

Students are urged to arrive at their respective centers by 10 AM, as the entry gates will close at this time. To facilitate entry, all candidates must present their CBSE Class 10 admit card along with their school ID. Strict measures are being implemented across all exam centers, which are equipped with CCTV cameras to deter any form of malpractices.

Currently, the CBSE has completed the Class 10 board examinations for English, Science, and Sanskrit, with reports indicating a moderate difficulty level for these papers. The exams will continue until March 18, 2025, requiring students to maintain their focus until the very end. According to the official CBSE date sheet, the schedule for the remaining papers is clearly laid out, allowing students to prepare effectively:

For the CBSE Class 10 Social Science exam, the marking scheme is set at 80 marks for theory, supplemented by 20 marks for internal assessment. To pass the examination, students must secure at least 33% overall, as well as 33% separately for practical and theory components.

Many educators, including Madhurima Guha from Sapphire International School Noida, have shared tips for last-minute preparations. She emphasizes:

"Always keep NCERT as your Bible. It's important to read the textbook thoroughly and base your answers on it. Framing your answers correctly according to the marks allocated is also key to scoring well."

Guha also suggests practicing past years’ question papers, maintaining calmness, and ensuring students are well-rested and healthy before the exam. These strategies can help ease the natural anxiety associated with board examinations.

On exam day, students should adhere to the guidelines provided for their conduct within the examination hall:

  • Regular students should wear school uniforms, whereas private candidates should wear light clothing.

  • The use of calculators, electronic devices, printed materials, and other unapproved items is strictly prohibited.

  • Students are allowed to carry only certain necessary items such as transparent water bottles and basic stationery.

Specific strategies for answering the varied types of questions are also advised. The exam paper consists of multiple components:

  • Section A: 20 MCQs (1 mark each)

  • Section B: 4 Very Short Answer Questions (2 marks each)

  • Section C: 5 Short Answer Questions (3 marks each)

  • Section D: 4 Long Answer Questions (5 marks each)

  • Section E: 3 Case-Based Questions (4 marks each)

  • Section F: 1 Map-Based Question (5 marks)

The importance of time management, neat presentation, and adhering to word limits cannot be overstated. Students are encouraged to allocate time judiciously across sections to maximize scoring potential.

For those facing nervousness, it’s worth noting: it’s completely normal to feel overwhelmed. "You'll be fine," assures Guha, reiteration the fact many students share the same anxious feelings during this pivotal period.

With the right preparation and adherence to these guidelines, students can tackle the CBSE Class 10 Social Science exam with confidence.
