Catanzaro Prepares For Match Amid Stadium Redevelopment

Funding approved for Nicola Ceravolo stadium upgrades as fans gear up for Saturday's clash

As the countdown to the Serie B 2024-25 match between US Catanzaro and Carrarese intensifies, Catanzaro's municipal council has taken significant steps to ensure the future of the Nicola Ceravolo stadium. On April 10, 2025, the council, led by Mayor Nicola Fiorita, approved a budget variation of 9 million euros aimed at redeveloping the stadium and its surrounding areas. This funding comes on the heels of a decree from the Calabria Region, which granted financial support for the project, marking a pivotal moment for the club and its passionate fanbase.

Mayor Fiorita emphasized the urgency of the project, stating, "Our priority is the Massimo Capraro curve, both in terms of design and execution. This is crucial for the respect we owe to our extraordinary fanbase and because the intervention aligns with our timeline." The Mayor’s comments reflect a commitment to not only improve the stadium but also to enhance the matchday experience for fans.

The approved budget variation is now pending ratification by the City Council, which must act within sixty days. Fiorita noted that the administration acted swiftly, bringing the budget variation to the council just twenty-four hours after receiving the regional decree. This rapid response is aimed at expediting the tender process, with hopes of having the construction work start during the summer.

"We aim to have the tender defined or in the process of being awarded by the end of the current championship, which would allow us to begin work in the summer," Fiorita explained. However, he acknowledged that the technical execution of the project must be carefully managed, stating, "While we want to speed up the process, we must also respect the natural timeline of technical planning."

As the team prepares for their upcoming match against Carrarese on April 12, 2025, Catanzaro fans are urged to plan their travel carefully. The match will kick off at 15:00 at the Stadio dei Marmi in Carrara, and fans traveling by car should use the Massa exit and avoid Carrara to reach the designated parking area. The preferred route involves taking the SS1-Via Aurelia Ovest and continuing along Via Provinciale Carrara-Avenza before parking on Via Piave, just a short walk from the away sector entrance.

Road closures will be in effect from the morning of the match, with the stadium gates opening at 13:00. For those opting for public transport, the nearest train station is Carrara-Avenza, located just over 2 kilometers from the stadium. However, there are currently no shuttle services confirmed between the station and the stadium.

Ticket sales for the away sector are set to close on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 19:00. Fans can purchase tickets exclusively at physical Ticketone outlets across the country, with around 150 tickets still available out of a maximum capacity of 620 for the away section. It's worth noting that tickets for other sectors are restricted to residents of the provinces of Massa-Carrara and La Spezia, ensuring local fans have priority access.

As the match approaches, the excitement builds not just for the game itself but for the future of the Nicola Ceravolo stadium. The redevelopment project symbolizes a new era for US Catanzaro, and the commitment from the municipal council illustrates a strong partnership between the city and the club. Fans are eager to see how the upcoming match will unfold and how the team's performance will play into the larger narrative of their season.

In conclusion, as US Catanzaro prepares to face Carrarese, the club's future looks promising with significant investments in their home stadium. This redevelopment project is not only about bricks and mortar but about honoring the club's rich history and the unwavering support of its fans. The anticipation for the match against Carrarese is palpable, and as fans make their way to the stadium, they carry with them hopes for a bright future both on and off the pitch.
