Carnival Preparations Heat Up For 2025 Festivities

Local towns gear up for vibrant celebrations, emphasizing tradition and community involvement.

Preparations are underway for the 2025 Carnival celebrations across various towns in Italy, with organizers emphasizing the importance of tradition and community involvement. The Famija Monregaleisa 1949, one of the key organizations behind the events, has begun the detailed planning needed to bring back this iconic festivity.

"We have already met with the floats and groups who will be the protagonists of our new edition of the carnival," said Andrea Tonello, president of Famija Monregaleisa 1949. He added, "The organizational machine has been set in motion for several days now, as putting together such an event calls for careful planning, especially since the peak of the festivities occurs between the end of February and the start of March."

The carnival, known as Carlevé, is set to return with exciting new attractions, promising to be richer than ever. According to Mondovì's Mayor, Luca Robaldo, and Events Councillor Alessandro Terreno, the event not only showcases local traditions but also serves as a significant tool for territorial promotion. "Thanks to the efforts of Famija Monregaleisa 1949, the 2025 Carlevé is expected to be even more attractive, blending history with revelry," they stated.

Key dates for the celebrations have already been marked, with public participation encouraged from early on. A press conference will kick off the festivities on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 11 AM at the Sala Consigliare of the Municipio di Mondovì. During this conference, the new Bela Monregaleisa 2025 will be introduced, symbolizing local tradition and beauty. This ceremony will also include the announcement of all the new features for the Carlevé 'd Mondvì 2025.

The carnival parades will take place on two Sundays: the first on March 2, featuring masked groups parading through the historic center of Mondovì, followed by the second parade on March 9, where colorful allegorical floats will take center stage. Tonello has extended an open invitation to the entire community, stating, "We invite everyone to come and celebrate these days filled with joy, tradition, and festivity."

Meanwhile, the excitement is not limited to Mondovì. Other towns, such as Lozzolo, are also gearing up for their own celebrations. On Sunday, January 5, residents will enjoy the 'Pranzo delle Maschere,' which includes key events such as the symbolic handing over of keys and parades throughout the town. Attendees can expect local delicacies, including 'Suppa ricca d'la Cuntagiotta', lentils, potatoes, sausage, mushrooms, spinach, along with polenta and the 'tapulone dal Zemmu' available for children as well.

Households are also invited to partake as Lozzolo plans various events for both families and children, including games led by animators, followed by pizza nights celebrating the occasion. This mix of traditional food and family-oriented fun is at the heart of the carnivals, highlighting the intergenerational gatherings they inspire.

Tonello concluded with enthusiasm on behalf of the organizers, emphasizing the vibrant celebratory nature of these events, which aim to unite people across age groups and backgrounds for, as he put it, "extraordinary historical and jovial events, showcasing our unique heritage." With community engagement at the forefront and exciting schedules lined up, the 2025 Carnivals are set to rejuvenate cultural pride and local spirit across Italy.
