Capelle Aan Den IJssel Launches Sustainable Home Upgrades Campaign

Information session on March 24 to kickstart carbon reduction efforts for residents.

Residents of Capelle aan den IJssel are set to benefit from new sustainable initiatives led by the municipality aimed at assisting homeowners make eco-friendly upgrades to their properties. Commencing with an information meeting on March 24, 2025, the campaign invites locals to discover affordable solutions for energizing their homes.

The municipality is launching this sustainable purchasing campaign, providing residents with enhanced access to various insulation options such as roof or attic insulation and cavity wall insulation, along with hybrid heat pumps. Such measures not only promise to lower energy bills but also improve the overall comfort of living spaces. Particularly popular among attendees is the introduction of green roofs, available under special promotion until April 16, 2025. Green roofs can help regulate indoor temperatures, staying cooler during summer months and warmer throughout winter.

At the helm of this initiative is Sjoerd Geissler, the Alderman for Sustainability, who stated, "We see this purchasing action makes it easier and more affordable to become sustainable. The purchasing actions from last year attracted much interest. This time we offer different measures to support Capellenaren step by step toward gas-free living." Geissler’s perspective highlights the municipality’s proactive approach to tackling energy costs and environmental impact simultaneously.

Residents will have the opportunity to register for the campaign from March 24, 2025, until May 31, 2025. Interested participants can sign up via energieklus.nl/actie-capelle. The selected partners involved will reach out to individuals who register and assist them through the process.

One of the notable features of this campaign is its alignment with the ISDE subsidy scheme, which can significantly alleviate financial burdens. Homeowners who implement two insulation measures could qualify for up to 30% back as subsidy, whereas individuals opting for one measure are eligible for up to 15% off.

This endeavor is part of a larger goal to transition Capelle aan den IJssel toward more sustainable living, effectively decreasing reliance on gas heating and fostering environmental responsibility among its residents. To sweeten the deal, the campaign includes collective purchase discounts, enabling residents to benefit from favorable pricing alongside their neighbors.

Besides insulation and heating options, the introduction of green roofs underlines the municipality's commitment to environmental awareness. More insights will be shared at the information session, where attendees can learn about the numerous advantages of installing such roofs—from improved energy efficiency to enhanced biodiversity.

By participating, residents not only stand to benefit financially through lower energy costs and enhanced home value, but they also contribute to creating a more sustainable Capelle aan den IJssel, one homeowner at a time. The campaign solidifies the idea of community coming together for common good, fostering both economic and environmental progress.

The municipality will continue to provide support related to subsidy applications and guidance on implementing the various measures, encouraging widespread participation for the program's success.

With growing concerns about climate change and rising energy costs, initiatives like this are more important than ever as they empower communities to take positive actions toward sustainability. Whether it's through insulating homes, investing in energy-efficient technology, or exploring the benefits of green roofs, the message is clear: the time to act is now.

Residents are encouraged to mark their calendars for the information meeting on March 24 and take the first step toward transforming their homes. Such efforts will not only reduce individual energy footprints but also lead to lasting community change—a vision clearly championed by the local government.
