CAPCOM has announced exciting updates for the recently launched game, Monster Hunter Wilds, with the first free large-scale update scheduled to land on April 4, 2025. This announcement comes just a month after the game’s official release on February 28, 2025, across platforms including PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, marking a significant milestone for fans of the series.
During the "Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase" held on March 25, 2025, CAPCOM revealed essential details about what's included in this eagerly awaited update. Notably, the beloved monster, the Bubble Fox Dragon, will make its grand return, alongside new challenges and gameplay elements designed to enrich the overall player experience.
One of the major highlights of the April update is the introduction of the Great Assembly Hall, a central hub allowing players to gather and interact more dynamically. To access this new location, hunters must reach a High Rank (HR) of 16 and speak with the character Kagero at the Exchange Peak. This gathering point enhances community interaction and offers various mini-games, including a quirky new feature called the “Rolling Barrel Challenge.” According to CAPCOM, "the new base 'Great Assembly Hall' will be available after reaching HR16 and talking to Kagero at the Exchange Peak.”
Players can also look forward to engaging in special challenge quests where they can compete for time records against hunters from around the world. With the chance to earn various rewards based on their performance, this feature promises to add a competitive edge to the game, giving players more reasons to hone their skills.
Moreover, the update will introduce the White Gale Dragon, a previously single-encounter monster that players can challenge again and again once specific conditions are met post-update. Additionally, the Fierce Fighting King Flame King Dragon will be available in a timed event quest running from April 30 to May 21, 2025, meaning players at HR50 or above will have an exceptional challenge awaiting them. CAPCOM confirms that "the Fierce Fighting King Flame King Dragon's event quest will be announced at a later date, and players at HR50 or above can accept it."
The update also coincides with the seasonal event dubbed the "Exchange Festival [Flower Dance Ceremony]." This spring-themed celebration will run from April 23, 2025, until May 7, 2025, transforming the Great Assembly Hall with a seasonal flair and offering players exclusive items and decorations in line with the theme. CAPCOM notes, "A seasonal event called 'Exchange Festival [Flower Dance Ceremony]' will be held from April 23, 2025.”
In terms of character customization, the update will allow players to change the appearance of their character and even their accessories, enhancing personalization options significantly. This reflects a growing trend in games towards more personalized experiences and player agency, catering to the creative instincts of its audience.
CAPCOM is committed to maintaining the excitement with future content as well. They have hinted at more updates rolling out throughout the summer of 2025, including the potential introduction of new monsters, enhancing the dynamic gameplay further. Observers speculate that these updates might feature aquatic monsters, in line with the hints seen in the recent showcase.
As CAPCOM stays true to its roots with the Monster Hunter series, the community eagerly anticipates these updates. With the promise of engaging new content, dynamic gameplay, and continued support, Monster Hunter Wilds is poised to keep players deeply engaged in the vast and perilous world of monster hunting.
