Canco Rodríguez: A Glimpse Into His Family Life And Career

The beloved Spanish actor balances acting, music, and family life with wife Marta and son Hiro.

Canco Rodríguez, at age 47, has firmly established himself as one of the most beloved and humorous actors across both television and film industries in Spain. His iconic roles, ranging from Barajas in the comedy series Aída to appearances in films like Fuga de cerebros and Operación Camarón, have endeared him to many. The actor has displayed his versatility not only through his dramatic roles but as well as through his musical talents showcased on the hit talent show Tú cara me suena. Now, he is set to compete for the title of best tailor on Maestros de la costura Celebrity, proving there's no limit to his artistry.

His career, which has reached impressive heights, also led to one of the happiest moments of his life—meeting and marrying Marta Nogal, his lifelong partner. The couple said their vows on July 18, 2017, at a picturesque venue located outside Barcelona. Ahead of their big day, Canco remarked, "For me, getting married is not a responsibility; it's a turning point in your personal life. It’s the entry to another state, something bringing me calm and peace." Such sentiments clearly resonate with many as they symbolize his joy and commitment.

The wedding was nothing short of spectacular, gathering many famous faces like Helen Lindes, Rudy Fernández, and many others who joined the joyous celebration. Amusingly, the actor and comedian Paco León surprised everyone by arriving inside a giant sardine can, taking what could have been just another wedding event and transforming it, making it truly memorable. The couple's deep connection was also evident when León and another known actor entertained attendees by reviving their Aída characters Luisma and Barajas for the festivities.

Expanding their family, Canco and Marta welcomed their son, Hiro, four years after their wedding. Born in 2021, Hiro’s name, meaning ‘great and generous’ in Japanese, reflects the couple's shared passion for Japanese culture. Canco joyfully announced Hiro's arrival on social media, sharing, "Hiro has arrived. A red dragon of love was born this morning." Today, as their little one turns three, Canco proudly shares moments of their adventures as they explore family life together.

Music holds significant importance for the Rodríguez family, and they have created their own personal sanctuary at home dedicated to it. Canco owns an impressive collection of vinyl records displayed prominently, which includes eclectic finds like works from the Andalusian reggae band Los granadinos del espacio exterior. The living space, creatively decorated with warm tones and wooden finishes, offers them the perfect cozy retreat for spending quality time together, especially on chilly days.

Continuing his artistic endeavors, Canco Rodríguez has not shied away from exploring diverse frontiers. After enduring ten successful seasons of Aída, he reflects on the experience fondly, albeit recognizing the challenges of stepping away from the character Barajas, who had become so beloved. He stated, "It was one of the fears we all felt returning because it was hard to dissociate the actor from the character; it feels like the character died. But the audience now knows us as actors; they want to see us again doing those roles." And now, decades later, he looks forward to revamping his former role as part of the upcoming project Aída y vuelta, promising to create more direct communion with the audience than ever before.

Initially aspiring to become a journalist, Canco began his studies in journalism alongside dramatic arts but eventually shifted focus entirely to acting. After moving to Madrid and honing his craft at the Cristina Rota School, he dove headfirst onto the stage and screen, achieving success he had always aspired to. Besides acting, Canco also explores music as his recent concert tour, titled "El rock & roll ha muerto," intertwines the evolution of rock music with his personal narrative, bridging his life experiences from Málaga to Madrid.

Canco Rodríguez continues to balance his flourishing career and cherished family life. With each venture, whether acting, music, or family, he demonstrates the depths of his passion and dedication, crafting not only remarkable performances but also building beautiful memories with Marta and baby Hiro. The future seems bright for the Rodríguez family as they navigate their artistic journeys together, solidifying their legacy both on and off the screen.
