In a heartfelt announcement, Camille Razat, known for her role as Camille in the hit Netflix series Emily in Paris, revealed her departure from the show after four seasons. The actress made her announcement on April 23, 2025, stating that she has decided to focus on her production company and explore new horizons.
"After an incredible journey, I’ve made the decision to step away from Emily in Paris," Razat shared in an Instagram post. She described her time on the show as a wonderful experience filled with growth, creativity, and unforgettable memories. "This character has meant a lot to me, and I feel that her storyline has naturally come to an end. It felt like the right moment to explore new horizons," she added.
Razat's character, Camille, was pivotal in the show's narrative, often caught in a love triangle with Emily, played by Lily Collins, and Gabriel, portrayed by Lucas Bravo. Throughout the series, Camille's relationship with Gabriel faced numerous ups and downs, including breakups, reconciliations, and even a false pregnancy that added complexity to their dynamic.
Following her announcement, Razat received an outpouring of support from her co-stars. Lily Collins commented, "Love you sister, it’s been a wild ride and an absolute pleasure. You’re a rockstar. So proud of you." Ashley Park, who plays Mindy Chen, echoed her sentiments, saying, "Love you so much, always proud of you." Lucas Bravo affectionately referred to Razat as "my sister," while Lucien Laviscount expressed his admiration, stating, "From day one you’ve been my rider on this show. Your passion for storytelling, your dark sense of humor, your unwavering ability to stay true to yourself when everything’s pushing you in a different direction. You’re special Camille, and I feel absolutely honored to have been able to dance with you these past seasons. Keep on shining. I’m going to miss laughing with you. I’m cheering you on in everything you do."
In her farewell message, Razat also expressed gratitude to the show's creator, Darren Star, and the production team, thanking them for the opportunity to bring Camille to life and for leaving the door open for her potential return. "I leave the show with nothing but love and admiration for the cast, crew, and fans who have supported us along the way. Thank you for the beautiful ride," she concluded.
As she steps away from Emily in Paris, Razat is not slowing down. She recently wrapped filming on two upcoming French series, Nero for Netflix and The Lost Station Girls for Disney+. Additionally, she has launched her own production company, TAZAR, which is currently developing its first feature film. "We mainly produce music videos and short films for now, but we’re currently developing our first feature film, something I’m truly passionate about and excited to grow," she revealed.
Despite Razat's exit, the show continues to thrive. Production for Season 5 of Emily in Paris is set to begin in May 2025, with filming locations including Rome and Paris. The new season will introduce a new Italian love interest for Emily, named Marcello, played by Eugenio Franceschini, while also featuring her ex-boyfriends, Gabriel and Alfie (Lucien Laviscount).
In an interview, Collins hinted at the direction of Emily's new romance, stating, "Marcello is a whole other adventure that we want for Emily because we ultimately want Emily to be able to have a better work/life balance. We want to have Emily be able to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond her vacay mode. And he comes at that perfect time."
Darren Star, the show's creator, emphasized the importance of keeping the narrative fresh and engaging, stating that Emily's move to Rome was a strategic decision to take the audience to unexpected places. He noted that while Gabriel remains a part of the storyline, Marcello will be a strong contender for Emily's heart.
As fans prepare for the new season, they will undoubtedly miss Camille's character. However, Razat's journey is just beginning as she ventures into new creative territories. Her departure marks the end of an era for Emily in Paris, but her influence on the show will always be remembered.
With her new production company and upcoming projects, Razat is set to make her mark in the industry, proving that sometimes, stepping away from a beloved role can lead to exciting new opportunities.
