Camille Cerf, the former Miss France, has shared heartfelt reflections on her recent unexpected motherhood after the arrival of her son, Malo, on August 18, 2023. The young beauty queen, who welcomed her first child with partner Théo Fleury, experienced the kind of revelations about motherhood many dream of but rarely encounter.
Since birth, Cerf has been vocal about the shock of her pregnancy. "The day I learned I was pregnant, it was a big shock for me because it was not planned," Camille recalled during her candid interview with Aufeminin. This surprising news prompted her to question whether she would excel as a parent. "I asked myself whether I would be a good mother, if I could love my baby... I loved my baby when he was in my belly but I couldn't picture myself with a child," she explained.
Reflecting on her past, Cerf admitted she never truly imagined herself holding the title of ‘mother.’ “When I was little, I never played with dolls. Whenever someone asked me if I wanted kids, I would always say, ‘Honestly, I don't really know,’” she shared. Those sentiments made the reality of her pregnancy all the more startling.
Fast forward to August, when the momentous day arrived. Cerf experienced what she described as a “raz de marée,” or tidal wave of emotions, when she first laid eyes on her son. "The day of the birth was like the love at first sight some women talk about, I really experienced it. I was lucky; I had a completely painless labor, and the meeting was incredible. It was obvious,” she recalled fondly.
What made this encounter even more astonishing for Cerf was how all her apprehensions vanished upon seeing her newborn. "That day, I understood why we are on Earth," she said, encapsulating the deep fulfillment she felt as she stepped onto this new path of motherhood.
Born and raised in Nord-Pas-de-Calais, Camille has tied her roots to Lille, where she continues to live with her family. This region, proud of producing several notable beauty queens since her crowning as Miss France in 2014, also remains close to her heart.
The transition to motherhood has not been merely about the joys and wonders. It has been about embracing the unexpected and finding strength within herself—a process she is still delighting in. “I had this very internal doubt about motherhood, but once Malo was here, I felt everything fall perfectly and make sense,” she reflected.
Camille Cerf's postpartum reflections offer not just insight but hope to many women grappling with similar feelings of uncertainty and surprise. Through her story, she encourages embracing the unexpected and cherishing the unique beauty of motherhood. Her narrative is not just about personal growth but also signifies the transformative power of motherhood and love.
