Café Quijano Launches New Album Miami 1990

Brothers to perform acoustic set and sign albums at El Corte Inglés León.

Café Quijano, the renowned León-based band, is set to launch their latest album, ‘Miami 1990’, with an acoustic performance on Tuesday, February 11, at 18:00 at El Corte Inglés’s fourth floor in León. The trio, consisting of brothers Manuel, Óscar, and Raúl Quijano, will not only entertain fans with live renditions of their new tracks but also take part in signing copies of the album. This fresh musical offering, featuring 10 songs, brings back the beloved sound they are known for, reminiscent of their iconic hit, 'La Taberna del buda' from 2001, with nods to the vibrant 1990s.

According to the band, ‘Miami 1990’ serves as “a collection of curious stories,” weaving narratives ranging from their first adventurous travels to themes of love and heartache. The album’s title has personal significance for the Quijano brothers, particularly for Manuel, who remarks, “Miami 1990 has much of the genesis of the life of the group. The first call from a record company we received was precisely in 1990, being there, in Miami.” This connection roots the album firmly in the history of their musical career, giving fans insight not only to the songs but to the band's evolution over the years.

The band has shared their excitement for the event, stating, “This album is a surprising disc evoking some memories marking the starting point of the incredible adventure of Café Quijano.” With both CD and vinyl formats available, the anticipation around ‘Miami 1990’ showcases how their sound continues to evolve, reflecting on their beginnings and how their experiences have shaped their art.

Notably, the ten tracks on ‘Miami 1990’ follow the trail laid by their earlier music, maintaining the sonic traits associated with their signature style. The release promises to capture the essence of Café Quijano’s narratives — tales of travel, recollections of their youth, and reflections on ordinary heart affairs. Their last work, ‘Manhattan’, released in 2021, was steeped in similar storytelling, emphasizing their ability to blend memory and melody.

The event at El Corte Inglés promises to be more than just a musical showcase; it is set to be another heartfelt return to their roots at home. Manuel Quijano expressed how significant these moments are for the band: “It’s been 34 years since I started traveling there, and that's more than half of my own life.” This dedication to their hometown and fans is evident as they return to present their latest creative endeavor.

With ‘Miami 1990’, the Quijano brothers invite their fans to experience not just the music but the stories behind the songs, providing a glimpse of the impactful memories they hold onto. The showcase is poised to evoke emotions, stir nostalgia, and strengthen the bond with their audience through both sound and personal connection.

Join Café Quijano on February 11, and immerse yourself in the captivating blend of past and present as they bring ‘Miami 1990’ to life, celebrating their enduring legacy and the ever-evolving story of their music.
