Bulega Dominates Superpole Race At Cremona

Nicolò Bulega extends championship lead with home victory

Nicolò Bulega continues to showcase his dominance in the 2025 World Superbike Championship, adding yet another victory to his impressive resume with a commanding performance in the Superpole Race at the Cremona Circuit on May 4, 2025. Starting from pole position, Bulega, riding for Aruba.it Racing - Ducati, exhibited a flawless race strategy that saw him maintain the lead from the very first corner.

With a blistering pace, Bulega completed the ten-lap race in just 19 minutes and 50.109 seconds, finishing 1.456 seconds ahead of his nearest rival, Toprak Razgatlioglu from ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team. Alvaro Bautista, also on a Ducati, rounded out the podium in third place, crossing the finish line 6.060 seconds behind Bulega.

The race began with a strong start from Bulega, who quickly established a gap over Razgatlioglu, who had moved up from third on the grid. By the end of the first lap, Bulega had already created a near-second advantage, showcasing his speed and control throughout the race. Razgatlioglu, despite his best efforts, was unable to keep pace with the Italian sensation, who extended his lead to 0.6 seconds by the end of Lap 4 and doubled it to 1.2 seconds by Lap 6.

“It was a perfect race for me,” Bulega said post-race. “I felt great on the bike and was able to push hard from the start. The team did an amazing job, and I’m really happy to win in front of my home crowd.”

Sam Lowes, who started in second position, struggled to maintain his position and ultimately finished fourth, 7.154 seconds behind Bulega. Lowes faced fierce competition from Bautista, who capitalized on Lowes’ slow start to secure his spot on the podium. Xavi Vierge put in a commendable performance for the Honda team, finishing fifth and matching his best result of the season.

Danilo Petrucci, riding for Barni Spark Racing, finished sixth after a strong drive from 13th on the grid, showcasing his ability to navigate through the pack effectively. Meanwhile, Andrea Locatelli and Andrea Iannone finished seventh and eighth, respectively, with Iannone receiving a double long lap penalty for a jump start that hindered his chances for a higher finish.

“I had a good battle out there, but the penalties really cost me,” Iannone admitted. “I’ll take the lessons from this race and come back stronger in the next one.”

The race also saw some dramatic moments, including a crash by Iker Lecuona on Lap 14, which forced him to retire from the competition while he was battling for a top position. Lecuona’s crash added to the tension of the race, as the remaining competitors pushed hard to secure their standings.

Bulega's victory in the Superpole Race not only adds to his impressive tally but also extends his lead in the championship standings. He now holds a 29-point advantage over Razgatlioglu, who remains his closest competitor. Bautista trails Bulega by 64 points, while Locatelli is 63 points behind the leader.

As the Superbike Championship continues to unfold, all eyes will be on the next race, where Bulega will look to maintain his momentum and further solidify his status as a title contender. The next race is set to take place later today at 14:00, promising another thrilling showdown between the top riders.

The Cremona Circuit has proven to be a favorable venue for Bulega, who has now secured multiple victories on home soil. His performance not only highlights his skill but also serves as a source of pride for Italian motorsport fans. With his youth and talent, Bulega is quickly establishing himself as one of the premier riders in the world, and fans are eager to see what he will accomplish next.

As the championship progresses, the rivalry between Bulega and Razgatlioglu intensifies, with both riders displaying exceptional skill and determination. The upcoming races will be crucial for both competitors as they aim for the championship title.

In summary, Nicolò Bulega's triumphant win in the Superpole Race at Cremona cements his place at the top of the WorldSBK standings, and as the season unfolds, fans can expect an exhilarating battle for the championship. With each race, the stakes get higher, and Bulega's prowess on the track continues to shine.
