BTS's Jin Set To Release New Album Echo In May

Jin's second solo album features seven tracks and aims to connect with fans more frequently.

SEOUL, April 15 (Yonhap) -- Jin of K-pop boy group BTS is set to release his second solo album titled "Echo" next month, according to his agency BigHit Music. The seven-track EP is scheduled to drop at 1 p.m. KST on May 16, marking Jin's first solo release in six months since his debut album "Happy" was released in November.

BigHit Music revealed that the earlier-than-expected release of "Echo" reflects Jin's desire to connect with his fans more frequently. To promote the upcoming album, a video message was unveiled earlier today on the K-pop Square screen at the COEX exhibition center in southern Seoul. This promotional video will play every 30 minutes from 6 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. daily until Saturday, April 19, 2025.

In a press release, BigHit Music described "Echo" as a project that captures the various moments of life, spreading out like "echoes" in different forms. The album aims to tell stories and emotions that anyone can experience at least once in their life, presented through Jin's unique and charming perspective. The seven songs will be primarily based on rock sounds, similar to those found in "Happy," which received a glowing four-star review from NME.

Jin's first single, "Happy," debuted to a strong response, showcasing his versatility and emotional depth. This upcoming album is another step in his solo journey, particularly during the current hiatus of BTS while members fulfill their military duties. Fans remember a live broadcast featuring all seven BTS members before their enlistment, where Jin hinted at plans for an album release in May. This timeline aligns perfectly with the release of "Echo," which may signal the end of BTS’ Chapter 2—a period where each member pursued solo work.

As Jin prepares for the release of "Echo," he has already completed his military service alongside fellow BTS member J-Hope. The remaining members—RM, SUGA, Jimin, V, and Jungkook—are expected to be discharged by June. Despite the group's break since 2022, their fan base remains active, and global interest in BTS continues to grow. Fans have dubbed 2025 “BTS’ year,” anticipating major group activities following their reunion.

BigHit Music stated that they will release daily content related to "Echo" from April 15 to April 19 at 6 a.m. KST. These updates aim to keep fans engaged and provide glimpses into Jin's upcoming music. The excitement surrounding the album is palpable, with fans eagerly awaiting the new tracks and the chance to experience Jin's storytelling through music.

For those looking to catch the promotional video, it will be displayed at the K-pop Square Media in COEX, a popular location for K-pop events. The video will play every day from Tuesday to Saturday, ensuring that fans have numerous opportunities to witness the promotional content leading up to the album's release.

As Jin embarks on this new chapter with "Echo," he continues to build a personal music identity while also maintaining a connection with his fans. The album is expected to resonate with listeners, echoing the emotions and experiences that unite people across different walks of life. With its rock-influenced sound and heartfelt lyrics, "Echo" promises to be a significant addition to Jin's discography and the broader K-pop landscape.

As the anticipation builds, fans are encouraged to pre-order the album starting today at 11 a.m. KST. With the release date set for May 16, 2025, at 1 p.m. KST, Jin's "Echo" is poised to make waves in the music industry and among the BTS fandom.

Stay tuned for more updates on K-pop, K-drama, and Korean entertainment as Jin's new album approaches its release date. The excitement surrounding this project is a testament to the enduring popularity of BTS and the individual talents of its members, particularly as they navigate their solo careers during this time.

With Jin's commitment to connecting with his fans and sharing his musical journey, "Echo" is expected to be a heartfelt reflection of life’s many moments, resonating deeply with listeners around the world.
