Broc Feeney Claims Victory At Tasmania Super440

Feeney triumphs in opening race as Randle and Fullwood follow closely behind

Broc Feeney has made a triumphant return to form, clinching victory in the opening leg of the Snowy River Caravans Tasmania Super440 on Saturday, May 10, 2025. The 22-year-old driver, representing Triple Eight Race Engineering, showcased his skill and determination by overcoming early leader Thomas Randle, who started from pole position.

The race kicked off with Randle converting his pole position into an early lead, but he soon found himself under immense pressure from Feeney. The two drivers battled fiercely, with Feeney relentlessly pursuing Randle until he made a decisive move out of the hairpin on Lap 11. This maneuver allowed Feeney to take the lead, a position he would not relinquish for the remainder of the race.

Feeney's victory margin was a comfortable 7.9379 seconds over Randle, who ultimately finished second. Bryce Fullwood, driving for Brad Jones Racing, secured third place, rounding out a strong performance for the Triple Eight team, which also featured Will Brown in fifth place despite a challenging pit stop.

“It feels amazing to finally get this win,” Feeney stated after the race. “We’ve been working hard, and to convert our pace into a victory is a great feeling. I’m really looking forward to the second race this afternoon.”

Feeney's win comes after a frustrating weekend in New Zealand, where he failed to make the podium, dropping him to fourth in the series standings. He had previously set the fastest laps in practice sessions in Tasmania, signaling his intent to bounce back strongly.

Randle's second-place finish marks a significant achievement for the Tickford Racing driver, who had to fend off a late challenge from Fullwood. The race was not without its drama; a collision involving Macauley Jones and Will Davison resulted in a 15-second penalty for Jones, impacting his race strategy.

“It was a tough race, and I’m glad to finish on the podium,” Randle commented. “I had a good start, but Broc was just too quick today.”

Brown, the reigning champion, faced a setback with a bungled pit stop that cost him valuable time, forcing him to settle for fifth place. Despite this, he still holds a 34-point lead in the championship standings over second-placed Cam Waters, who finished fourth in the race.

The second race of the day is set to start at 3:55 p.m. AEST, with teams preparing for another 50-lap battle on the soft compound tires. Feeney's victory in the first leg sets the stage for an exciting continuation of the Supercars series.

As the afternoon approaches, the anticipation builds for the next race, where Feeney will look to secure back-to-back victories, while Randle and Brown aim to reclaim their positions at the front of the pack. With the rivalry heating up and the stakes high, fans can expect another thrilling display of Supercars action.
