Brisbane Roar Welcomes New Players Amali Kinsella And Austin Ludwik

Kinsella signs short-term contract, Ludwik joins from Gannon University

Brisbane Roar is welcoming fresh talent to its ranks, with the recent signings of young defender Amali Kinsella and former Gannon soccer standout Austin Ludwik, who are poised to make their mark this season.

Recently, Brisbane Roar has signed 19-year-old Amali Kinsella on a short-term injury-replacement contract for the Ninja A-League. Hailing from Queensland, Kinsella has made quite the impression at Football Queensland’s elite women’s youth program, FQ Academy QAS, where she was awarded the prestigious Sue Monteath Award as the 2024 FQ QAS Player of the Year. This accolade came alongside the Under 18 Players’ Player Award after what was described as a standout season.

"Playing with the boys until I was 16 taught me so much about myself as a player and what I was capable of," Kinsella shared, echoing her determination and passion for the sport. She expressed her excitement about joining the Roar, stating, "I found out just less than 24 hours ago so there have been lots of emotions. It has been a goal of mine to play for Brisbane Roar since I was a little girl, so I am so grateful for Alex giving me this opportunity and I look forward to learning more and growing as a footballer." Kinsella has also established herself as a train-on player with the Roar and is expected to wear the number 5 jersey, available for this Sunday’s match against the two-time defending champions, Sydney FC.

Brisbane Roar is equally thrilled to announce the signing of Austin Ludwik, who inked his professional contract with the team earlier this month. Ludwik, who graduated from Gannon University, was instrumental on defense during his time with the Golden Knights. Notably, he earned all-American status during his collegiate career and served as team captain.

"Playing at Gannon helped me prepare and progress to the pro game. The Gannon men's soccer program is extremely well run, and as close to a professional setup as you can get," Ludwik stated about his transition to professional soccer. He has not only been acknowledged for his athletic skills but has also received numerous honors, including the 2019 PSAC West All-Conference First Team and various accolades from United Soccer Coaches, reinforcing his reputation as an athlete of high caliber.

His track record includes substantial achievements, and his advice to fellow graduating players is straightforward: "Continue training and playing at the same intensity you were during your time at GU. Don't ever give up. If you enjoy the process and keep your body fit, you will be ready to take charge when the opportunity presents itself."

Both Kinsella and Ludwik's arrivals signify a promising enhancement for Brisbane Roar, setting the stage for invigorated performances as the team moves forward. With their unique backgrounds and commendable skills, fans are enthusiastic about the contributions they will bring to the pitch this season. The anticipation is high as Kinsella prepares for her debut against Sydney FC and as Ludwik looks to solidify his role on the much-anticipated A-League Men stage.
