Brian Kelley Revealed As Mad Scientist Monster On The Masked Singer

The country star shares his journey from the show and his upcoming music tour

Brian Kelley, the country music star previously known as one half of the award-winning duo Florida Georgia Line, has recently been unmasked as the Mad Scientist Monster on the popular reality singing competition, The Masked Singer. The reveal took place during the season finale on May 7, 2025, much to the surprise of fans and panelists alike.

The Mad Scientist Monster made his debut on the March 26 episode of Season 13, captivating audiences with a variety of performances that showcased his vocal versatility. Throughout the season, Kelley performed an eclectic mix of songs, including Justin Bieber's "Love Yourself," Sugarland's "Stay," Shawn Mendes' "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back," and Brett Young's "Unwell." Despite the panelists' guesses, which ranged from Luke Bryan to Blake Shelton and Kane Brown, it wasn't until the finale that Kelley was finally revealed.

During the finale, Kelley performed a heartfelt rendition of "Stay" by Sugarland, which drew emotional reactions from the audience and judges alike. Ken Jeong, one of the show's panelists, expressed being deeply touched by the performance. After the unmasking, Kelley shared his thoughts on the experience, saying, "It was a blast to watch it all go down. You kind of think maybe you know how it may play out and maybe not many people are going to know, and I feel like for the first couple weeks some people were guessing, and then after every episode the last couple of weeks, I’m like, alright, I think they’re onto me for sure."

Kelley described his time on the show as a "great experience" that allowed him to relieve pressures he had been feeling and simply enjoy the ride. He noted, "It was oddly freeing and recentering and recalibrated myself during that experience. Just taking off any, I have to be a certain way, or I’m only this kind of singer and just truly being myself and letting it fly was awesome. It was a great experience. I’d do it again in a heartbeat."

As the Mad Scientist Monster, Kelley kept his identity a secret from everyone except for his wife, manager, and publicist. He humorously remarked about the costume, saying, "Growing up in Florida, it’s nothing I hadn’t faced, so I had a hand up in that area, but they were real collaborative with songs and everything." The character's design, which he described as "pretty hot," was a unique part of his journey on the show.

Now that his time on The Masked Singer has concluded, Kelley is eager to return to his music career. He is set to release his latest solo project titled "Palm Tree Country," which will serve as an introduction to his upcoming Sunshine State Of Mind Tour. This tour is scheduled to kick off on July 24, 2025, in Savannah, Georgia, and will continue through various states before wrapping up in Raleigh, North Carolina, on September 7, 2025. Kelley expressed excitement about the tour, stating, "We love doing our Surf Post Sessions down where we live, a more stripped-back vibe, but when we’re touring, we got full production, full band. And my team, we’ve been building for a couple good years now, and I feel like we’ve got our travel, our show, our vibe, everything’s really dialed in."

Reflecting on the past year, Kelley shared that 2025 has been his favorite year of life so far, saying, "Just enjoying it. Life is good. I got no complaints and it’s been a fun year. It’s been my favorite year of life so far this year, honestly. It’s been great. It’s been a lot of work and also a lot of play. It’s been a good mix." His enthusiasm for his music and the upcoming tour is palpable, as he looks forward to showcasing his growth as an independent artist.

The season finale of The Masked Singer was not only a significant moment for Kelley but also for the other finalists. The season concluded with Gretchen Wilson unmasked as Pearl and crowned the winner of the Golden Mask trophy. The other finalists included Andy Grammer as Boogie Woogie and Meg Donnelly as Coral. Wilson's victory was particularly poignant, as she shared her struggles with a serious injury that left her immobile for a time, making her win a testament to resilience and determination.

As The Masked Singer continues to captivate audiences with its blend of mystery and musical talent, viewers can expect more surprises and emotional performances in future seasons. The show has become a cultural phenomenon, drawing in fans eager to see celebrities step out of their comfort zones and showcase their talents in unexpected ways.

In a world where celebrity identities are often scrutinized, the unmasking of Brian Kelley as the Mad Scientist Monster raises intriguing questions about how performances like these shape our perceptions of artists. The show's format encourages viewers to engage with the contestants on a deeper level, connecting them with personal stories and artistic expressions that might otherwise remain hidden.

As Kelley embarks on this new chapter of his career, he carries with him the lessons learned from his time on The Masked Singer and the support of his fans. With a renewed sense of confidence and a commitment to his craft, Kelley is poised to make waves in the country music scene once again.
