Lucknow: The spirit of Sanatan Dharma is flourishing globally due to the noble values carried by Brahmins, who have always worked selflessly for the national interest and societal welfare. This was emphasized by Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak while addressing the Lord Parshuram Jayanti celebrations held in Panchkula, Haryana, on Sunday, April 27, 2025.
"Being a Brahmin is not about caste, but values," he said, highlighting the contributions of great figures like Chanakya, Aryabhata, and Sage Dadhichi. Pathak stated that their ideas and sacrifices continue to inspire the nation. He also recalled the sacrifice of Dadhichi, who gave up his bones for the greater good, and praised the political strategies of Chanakya and the astronomical contributions of Aryabhata, who discovered zero.
He underlined that their work in politics, religion, education, and social reform remains unforgettable. "Brahmins have always taken the lead whenever society needed them," he said. Pathak added that Brahmins played a significant role in giving new India a global identity and will continue to contribute towards fulfilling the dream of a developed India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Pathak said that during times when invaders tried to destroy the ancient universities of Takshashila and Nalanda, the Gurus preserved knowledge by making their students memorize the Vedas and Puranas, thus spreading India's rich heritage worldwide. "Brahmins have always upheld the spirit of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' (the world is one family)," he said.
Pathak mentioned that India is moving towards becoming a world leader and credited the people for strengthening the Prime Minister by supporting the BJP. He contrasted the achievements of the present government with previous ones, citing examples like the construction of the Ram Temple, the development of the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, and the rejuvenation of Ujjain's Mahakal Temple. He also assured that the wheels of development will soon turn faster in Mathura-Vrindavan.
The event was attended by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini as the chief guest, along with former Tripura Chief Minister and MP Biplab Kumar Deb.
On the same day, a Parshuram Shobhayatra was organized in Bikaner, Rajasthan, to celebrate Bhagwan Parshuram Jayanti. The Shobhayatra was organized by Ravi Kalwani and included various prominent figures such as National Saint Sarju Das Maharaj, Pundit Jugal Kishore, and Lokesh Sharma. The rally made its way through various areas, culminating at Pari Chowk.
The procession featured attractive chariots, various deities in fancy dress, DJs, bands, horses, Bhagwa flags, and women in traditional attire. Kalwani stated that all guests called for uniting the Brahmin society and helping needy Brahmin relatives.
In Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, an impressive Shobha Yatra was also taken out in connection with Bhagwan Parshuram Jayanti celebrations on April 27, 2025. Organized by the Yuva Parshuram Dal, the grand procession began from Kargil Hanuman Mandir and passed through various areas of the town.
A `Yagya` was performed at Kargil Hanuman Mandir in the morning, with a large number of people, including women and children, participating. A community langar was also arranged by the management committee of the YPD. The Shobha Yatra, which began around 11 am, included several tableaux of Bhagwan Parshuram on decorated vehicles.
The procession passed through Domail, Barrian, Salathia Chowk, Court Road, Mukerjee Bazar, Dabber Chowk, Gole Market, Main Bazar, Chabutra Bazar, Talab Sallian, and Vinas Chowk before concluding at D N Palace. Participants raised slogans in praise of Bhagwan Parshuram and sang devotional songs.
In Devband, a Teerthyatri Brahmin conference was organized on April 27, 2025, to commemorate Bhagwan Parshuram Jayanti. The conference began with the offering of flowers to pictures of Bhagwan Parshuram and Bharat Mata and lighting a lamp at a hall located on State Highway.
Former MP Raghav Lakhanpal Sharma highlighted that Bhagwan Parshuram always fought against injustice and was a true well-wisher of Sanatan. Tyagi Bhumihar Brahmin Committee President Mangeram Tyagi emphasized the need for unity among the Tyagi and Brahmin society in the name of Bhagwan Parshuram.
Vikrant Vashisht, Ajay Tyagi, Jitendra Tyagi, Neeraj Tyagi, and Rohit Kaushik also addressed the conference, which was chaired by Rajendra Dutt Tyagi and conducted by Pankaj Tyagi. A number of other community members were also present.
As the celebrations continue, Parshuram Jayanti is set to be celebrated on April 29, 2025. This festival marks the birthday of Bhagwan Parshuram, the sixth incarnation of Bhagwan Vishnu, and is usually celebrated on Akshaya Tritiya or one day before it.
According to religious beliefs, Bhagwan Parshuram was born during Pradosh Kaal and is known for destroying sinful, destructive, and unrighteous kings. It is believed that he still resides on Earth today.
On this day, devotees engage in various rituals, including performing a Yagya, offering prayers, and participating in community celebrations. The Tritiya Tithi will begin at 5:31 PM on April 29, 2025, and will end at 2:12 AM on April 30, 2025. Devotees are encouraged to perform rituals with devotion and share blessings with others.
