BPJS Kesehatan Ensures Healthcare Access During Lebaran Holidays

Participants of the Jaminan Kesehatan Nasional can receive services anytime and anywhere, ensuring seamless health coverage during the busy season.

As the Lebaran holiday approaches, BPJS Kesehatan is urging participants of the Jaminan Kesehatan Nasional (JKN) program to ensure their membership status is active before embarking on their travels. Heni Riswanti, the Head of BPJS Kesehatan Cabang Kudus, emphasized the necessity of checking membership status during a press conference on March 19, 2025. “Make sure your JKN participation status is active before traveling. If your status is inactive due to unpaid contributions, please settle those debts so you can benefit from the program while on your trip,” she stated.

The principle of portability within the JKN program allows participants to access health services anywhere and anytime, regardless of the health facility they are registered with. This feature means that even if participants are traveling outside their city or celebrating Lebaran in a different location, they can still receive necessary medical care. “In the event of a medical emergency, all health facilities are required to provide health services to participants,” Heni noted.

To accommodate the needs of JKN participants during the busy holiday period, BPJS Kesehatan is implementing service pickets at both branch offices and online services via WhatsApp (Pandawa), operable 24/7. These service pickets will be active at the Kudus branch from March 28 and on specific dates including April 2, 3, 4, and 7, 2025, operating from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM WIB.

The readiness of health services to support travelers has been bolstered across various facilities. According to Andini Aridewi, Head of the Kudus District Health Office, eight referral hospitals and three dedicated mother and child hospitals will be on standby, alongside 19 Puskesmas and health laboratories in Kudus. During the Lebaran holiday, emergency services—both inpatient and outpatient—will remain operational. “We’ve instructed all facilities to ensure readiness,” she confirmed.

Abdul Hakam, the director of RSUD Loekmono Hadi Kudus, stated that the hospital will maintain a full emergency unit staffed around the clock during the holiday and will prepare orthopedic specialists for potential traffic accident victims. “The emergency room will be operational 24 hours a day throughout the week of Lebaran,” he assured.

The BPJS Kesehatan Cabang Gresik also echoed similar sentiments, assuring that all JKN participants can access health services at any facility during the 2025 Lebaran holiday. Janoe Tegoeh Prasetijo, the head of BPJS Kesehatan Cabang Gresik, noted that the service pickets would be available both at the branch and online services via WhatsApp, also operational 24 hours a day. “Participants can utilize informational, administrative, and complaint services, and they can also access digital services through the Mobile JKN Application,” he added.

With the principle of portability firmly in place, participants can access healthcare in different locations, not limited to where they are registered. If an emergency arises, all facilities must provide assistance according to applicable regulations. Janoe highlighted, “If participants encounter issues while accessing services at any facility, they can reach out to our Information and Complaint Handling Officer (PIPP) for assistance.”

Amid the high flow of homecoming travelers, BPJS Kesehatan has set up Mudik Posts at seven strategic points and one post designated for return travelers. These posts will not only provide membership services but also be prepared to manage emergencies, equipped with medicines and medical referrals. “These posts will ensure that participants are cared for, and we’re ready to handle medical emergencies as required,” he noted.

Furthermore, Wyzri Andipo, head of the quality section at BPJS Kesehatan Tanjungpinang, stressed the importance of maintaining an active membership status during the holiday. “It’s essential for participants, especially those enrolled under government support programs, to frequently check their membership status, as updates may not always reach them,” he advised.

Throughout the holiday, participants can access healthcare services in any open first-level health facility, provided their membership status is active. BPJS Kesehatan has also outlined procedures for accessing necessary medications through the Referral Back Program (PRB) to ensure that participants do not face issues during the holiday. If participants need to retrieve medication during this period, they may need to do so a maximum of seven days prior to their supply running out.

Health services can be accessed at any facility simply by presenting an ID card, without incurring other costs associated with entitlements guaranteed under JKN. “We want to assure the public that no additional fees will be charged for health services covered by JKN,” Andipo concluded.

As the Lebaran holiday draws near, BPJS Kesehatan's proactive measures highlight its commitment to ensuring that all JKN participants receive uninterrupted access to healthcare services during this crucial time.
