Bolsa Família Payments Begin For April 2025

Caixa Econômica Federal starts disbursing essential support to millions of families in Brazil

On Tuesday, April 15, 2025, Caixa Econômica Federal began disbursing the April installment of the Bolsa Família program, starting with beneficiaries whose Número de Inscrição Social (NIS) ends in 1. This monthly support is crucial for many Brazilian families, particularly those in vulnerable social situations.

For this month, approximately 620,000 residents in Rio Grande do Sul will receive their payments regardless of their NIS, reflecting the government's commitment to assist families in emergency situations or those facing calamity across various states.

The minimum payment for Bolsa Família is set at R$ 600, with additional benefits available based on family composition. Specifically, families can receive R$ 150 for each child under 6 years old, R$ 50 for pregnant women and children aged 7 to 18, and R$ 50 for infants up to six months. This structured support aims to ensure that families can meet their basic nutritional and health needs.

Payments are staggered over the last ten business days of the month, with the schedule for April being as follows: NIS ending in 1 on April 15, 2 on April 16, 3 on April 17, 4 on April 22, 5 on April 23, 6 on April 24, 7 on April 25, 8 on April 28, 9 on April 29, and 0 on April 30. This staggered approach allows for orderly distribution and helps manage the flow of funds.

Beneficiaries can check their payment details, including amounts and dates, through the Caixa Tem app, which is designed for managing digital savings accounts. The app provides users with the ability to conduct transactions, including issuing virtual cards for purchases and making bank transfers via Pix.

In addition to the standard Bolsa Família payments, the Auxílio Gás program is also being implemented, which will be paid to families registered in the Cadastro Único for Social Programs (CadÚnico) with NIS ending in 1. This program, which is expected to remain active until the end of 2026, aims to assist approximately 5.5 million families by covering 100% of the average price of a 13 kg gas cylinder.

The Auxílio Gás program prioritizes women heads of households, especially those who are victims of domestic violence, ensuring that the most vulnerable receive the necessary support.

Since the introduction of Law 14.601/2023, beneficiaries of Bolsa Família no longer face deductions for Seguro Defeso, a benefit previously applied to individuals who rely solely on artisanal fishing. This change signifies a step towards improving the financial stability of families involved in fishing during the breeding season of fish.

April 2025 marks a significant month for Bolsa Família, as about 2.5 million families are currently under the protection rule that allows them to receive 50% of the benefit they are entitled to for up to two years if they secure employment and increase their income, provided that each family member earns no more than half the minimum wage.

The Bolsa Família program operates under strict eligibility criteria, requiring families to maintain a per capita income of R$ 218 or less. Additionally, beneficiaries must ensure their children and adolescents are enrolled in school, attend prenatal appointments, and keep vaccination records up to date. Compliance with these requirements is essential for continuing to receive benefits.

In summary, the Bolsa Família program remains a vital lifeline for millions of Brazilians, offering essential financial support to those in need. With the rollout of payments for April, the government continues to address social vulnerabilities and promote welfare among its citizens.
