Bolsa Família May Payments Start On May 19

Beneficiaries can expect payments between May 19 and 30, with additional support for families with children.

The May installment of the Bolsa Família Program (PBF) has a confirmed payment schedule, with deposits set to begin on May 19, 2025, according to the last digit of the NIS document. The Ministry of Development and Social Assistance, Family, and Hunger Combat (MDS) has outlined the details, ensuring beneficiaries are aware of the upcoming payments.

To be eligible for Bolsa Família in 2025, families must have a per capita income of up to R$ 218.00 per month and must have their data updated in the Cadastro Único for Government Social Programs (CadÚnico). The MDS conducts the screening process, and beneficiaries will be notified of their approval via mail sent to the address listed in CadÚnico.

Since 2023, each beneficiary household receives a minimum of R$ 600.00 per month, but additional amounts can be earned if specific criteria are met. For instance, each child aged between zero and six years is entitled to an additional R$ 150.00, while pregnant women, nursing mothers, and young individuals aged between seven and 18 years can receive R$ 50.00 per month. Importantly, these additional amounts are cumulative, meaning families can receive more based on the number of qualifying dependents.

Beneficiaries whose monthly per capita family income exceeds R$ 218.00 may enter the 'Protection Rule,' which allows them to continue receiving their monthly installments for up to 24 months, provided their income does not exceed half the minimum wage. The federal government has expressed intentions to extend this period to 36 months, although this change has yet to be officially regulated.

The payment schedule for May 2025 follows a specific logic based on the last digit of the NIS. However, in exceptional cases, such as for beneficiaries living in areas declared to be in a state of calamity or public emergency, payments can be advanced. For these individuals, payments will be made on the first day of the payment schedule, which is May 19, 2025, regardless of their NIS number.

Beneficiaries can check their payment details through the Bolsa Família application, which is available for both Android and iOS devices. The application provides access to information regarding total payment amounts, including any additional benefits, payment dates, and the current status in CadÚnico. Additionally, beneficiaries can manage their funds through the Caixa Tem platform, which allows for online purchases and bank transfers.

For any inquiries, beneficiaries can contact the MDS Social Hotline by calling 121. The hotline operates Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., excluding national holidays.

New rules have also been introduced for single-member households, requiring them to undergo an additional phase to determine eligibility for the program. The federal government has implemented home interviews to prevent fraud and inconsistencies in the application process.

The May payment will be made between May 19 and May 30, 2025, following a staggered order based on the last digit of the NIS. As a reminder, beneficiaries must keep track of their respective payment dates to ensure timely access to their funds. The confirmed payment dates for May 2025 are as follows:

| NIS Final | Payment Date |

|---|---|

| 1 | May 19 |

| 2 | May 20 |

| 3 | May 21 |

| 4 | May 22 |

| 5 | May 23 |

| 6 | May 26 |

| 7 | May 27 |

This structured payment system is designed to ensure that all beneficiaries receive their funds in an orderly fashion, providing essential support to families across Brazil. As the government continues to adapt the Bolsa Família program, it remains focused on addressing the needs of the most vulnerable populations, ensuring that financial assistance reaches those who need it most.
