The investigation surrounding the chilling delivery of a body in a parcel to Yendagandi village has unveiled disturbing connections among the involved individuals. The deceased, identified as B Parlayya, 45, from Gandhinagar, Kalla mandal, was found decomposing inside a wooden crate delivered to the under-construction house of Sagi Tulsi on December 19, 2022. The parcel also contained an extortion note demanding ₹1.30 crore, pointing to nefarious motives behind this tragic incident.
Authorities confirmed Parlayya's identity after his relatives identified clothing found with the body. Superintendent of Police Adnan Nayeem.Asmi stated, "The dead body has been identified as B Parlayya of Gandhi Nagar area of Kalla mandal headquarters." This grim discovery raised alarms and initiated immediate investigations, leading to the identification of key suspects.
The police have identified Chekuri Sudhir Varma, Tulsi's brother-in-law, as the prime suspect. Varma has been missing since December 20, raising suspicions about his involvement. Investigators have indicated, based on their findings, the implication of Varma conspired to seize property inherited by Tulsi from her parents.
"Investigations revealed Varma had married, apart from Revathi, another woman. He also has an illicit relationship with Vijayalakshmi, who already had a 24-year-old daughter. We suspect Varma had killed Parlaiah with the help of Vijayalakshmi, who had sent the body to Tulasi in a wooden box parcel," said Superintendent Adnan Nayeem, explaining the motivations behind the horrific act.
Parlayya, known for his alcoholic tendencies and turbulent family life, had been living separately from his wife and children for the past 15 years. Police suggested he was vulnerable as he was often living on the streets and barely surviving on petty work. He was last seen by neighbors riding pillion on Varma’s motorcycle on December 15, just days before the body was delivered.
Like something out of a thriller novel, CCTV footage has revealed alarming details. The footage captured Vijaya Lakshmi arriving at the scene, wearing a scarf around her face, driving a red Chevrolet car, and instructing the autorickshaw driver to deliver the body to Tulsi. The plot thickens as Lakshmi had also contacted Tulsi, impersonated as part of the Kshatriya Seva Samithi, discussing the delivery of construction materials, effectively gaining Tulsi's trust.
"We have formed four teams of police to launch a manhunt for Varma. Once he is caught, the real motive will be revealed," Superintendent Nayeem assured the public. This highlights the authorities' commitment to solving this disturbing case.
The motives for the crime remain under investigation but are expected to tie back to property disputes and financial gain. Investigators suspect Varma’s actions were meant not only to eliminate Parlayya but also to frighten Tulsi and drive her away from the family home, thereby facilitating his plans to acquire her land and valuables.
Parlayya's tragic story encapsulates the intersection of desperation and foul play, highlighting how domestic strife can lead to devastating consequences. The investigation is still underway, and police are questioning several witnesses, including Tulsi's family members, to gather more evidence.
While the case has stirred fear and distrust among the local community, it also raises significant concerns around safety and the consequences of untreated societal issues. The public looks on hopefully as law enforcement intensifies efforts to locate and apprehend the fugitives responsible for this grizzly crime.
