BLACKPINK’s Jennie Stuns At 2025 MET Gala

Jennie Kim’s show-stopping look and Jisoo’s absence spark fan conversations.

BLACKPINK’s Jennie Kim made a powerful style statement at the 2025 MET Gala, turning heads with her unique ensemble that perfectly embodied this year’s theme, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, and the dress code, Tailored for You. Jennie wore a custom Chanel tuxedo gown featuring an off-shoulder black jumpsuit adorned with pearl necklaces and a dramatic two-toned detachable skirt with a flowing train.

The highlight of Jennie’s look wasn’t just the elegance; it was the functionality. Sharing a behind-the-scenes glimpse on Instagram Stories, the K-pop icon called the detachable skirt her “magic trick of the night.” A video showed Jennie transforming her voluminous gown into a sleek jumpsuit mid-event, showcasing the versatile craftsmanship behind the design.

Jennie shared a carousel of photos on Instagram titled “Tailored for uuuuuuuu,” offering fans an intimate look at her MET Gala journey. The post included candid snaps inside a car, minimal-makeup selfies, and a mirror selfie with fellow stars Sabrina Carpenter, Whitney Peak, and Angele. One video captured Jennie removing her skirt inside the venue, revealing the chic jumpsuit underneath. She also posted a blue carpet photo and a sweet candid moment with singer Lorde.

Fans were quick to flood the comments with admiration. “YOU LOOK SO STUNNING, JENNIE,” one gushed, while another praised her as “Gorgeous, Lady Jane.” Professionally, Jennie is enjoying a stellar 2025. She dropped her first solo album, Ruby, performed in both South Korea and the U.S., and delivered a sensational solo set at Coachella. She also received the Global Force Award at the 2025 Billboard Women in Music Awards, cementing her influence as a global solo artist.

While Jennie, Lisa, and Rosé walked the steps of their first or second galas, many fans missed the fourth member, Jisoo. BLACKPINK’s attendance at the MET Gala 2025 didn’t go unnoticed, with Lisa, Jennie, and Rosé shining on the red carpet. Fans wondered how fantastic it would have been for the girl gang to go as a quarter for the first time. But according to recent reports, she was busy with her upcoming K-drama Boyfriend on Demand.

According to Cosmopolitan, the fourth member of BLACKPINK, Jisoo, had a good reason not to come to the MET Gala. This was because she had just finished filming her upcoming Netflix K-drama called Boyfriend on Demand. Pictures of Jisoo at the wrap party went viral on social media on May 2. Before this, neither Lisa nor Jisoo had attended the event. The former made her debut this year with Louis Vuitton and faced a lot of backlash for allegedly wearing American activist Rosa Parks’ face on her panties.

Rosé was the first member of BLACKPINK to make a debut at the MET in 2021, wearing Saint Laurent. Two years later, in 2023, Jennie also made her red carpet debut in a white Chanel minidress. She then attended again in 2024 in a stunning royal-blue Alaïa gown. Lisa, Jennie, and Rosé recently visited Coachella in California. This year’s festival featured Jennie and Lisa performing as solo artists. The four K-pop singers will rejoin and embark on a global tour as a quintet beginning in July 2025.
