Birthe Wolter Celebrates Motherhood With Son Momme

After a decade of struggle, actress welcomes her son while balancing career and new love.

In a heartwarming twist of fate, actress Birthe Wolter, known for her role in the popular German soap opera "Rote Rosen," has welcomed her first child, a son named Momme, born in October 2024. At 43 years old, Wolter's journey to motherhood has been anything but easy, as she battled endometriosis for a decade, a condition that often complicates fertility.

Wolter's pregnancy, which she describes as a miracle, was revealed while she was filming for the show "Rote Rosen." It was during her time on set that she learned of her pregnancy, a moment filled with both joy and disbelief. "It was so surreal! I was playing a character who experiences a miscarriage at the time," she shared in an exclusive interview with the German newspaper BILD.

The actress explained that she had been trying to conceive for ten years, even undergoing surgery, but had faced repeated disappointments. "I never expected that I would become pregnant at the set of 'Das Traumschiff - Miami' when I accepted the role," she recalled. During the filming, she was already in her eighth month of pregnancy, although clever camera work and props helped conceal her baby bump from viewers.

Wolter's realization that she was expecting came about in an unexpected way. While filming "Rote Rosen," her co-star Diana Staehly noticed Wolter's discomfort and suggested she might be pregnant. "A make-up artist happened to have a pregnancy test in her drawer, and I took it in the studio bathroom. The result was positive!" Wolter recounted. She and Staehly sat together in shock, staring at the test in disbelief.

The identity of Momme's father has been a topic of curiosity, and Wolter has chosen to keep that information private. She clarified that the father is not her long-term partner, Christian, from whom she separated three years prior. "My son Momme is not from Christian. I broke up with him three years ago," she stated. Instead, the father is a fellow actor from the "Rote Rosen" set. "It’s a 'Rosen-Baby!'" she exclaimed, adding a playful note about the father being the "most handsome" among her colleagues.

Despite the challenges she faced, Wolter expressed her immense gratitude for her son. Shortly after giving birth, she took to Instagram to share her joy with her followers. "For a week now, you have enriched my life in ways I never dreamed possible... My love for you, my Momme, is immeasurable! I thank fate for bringing you to me and am endlessly grateful," she wrote.

In a remarkable turn of events, Wolter's new relationship blossomed quickly after her decision to pursue a role in "Rote Rosen." "I skipped three auditions for 'Rote Rosen' but then decided to go for it because I wanted a change of scenery. And then, everything happened quickly!" she shared. While she and the father of her child do not live together, she noted that he will be present in Lüneburg, where Wolter is based, to support her and their son.

As she prepares to return to her role as Franka Böttcher in "Rote Rosen" in May 2025, Wolter is excited about the prospect of her son learning to crawl and walk on set. "I can’t wait for him to experience that world!" she said, highlighting her joy in balancing motherhood with her acting career.

Wolter's story resonates with many who have faced similar struggles with fertility and the challenges of starting a family later in life. Her journey reflects a narrative of hope and resilience, showcasing that dreams can come true even in the face of adversity. As she embraces motherhood, Wolter continues to inspire others with her story of determination and love.
