Bihar Board Declares Class 12 Results With Slight Dip In Pass Percentage

Overall pass percentage for 2025 recorded at 86.56%, with students encouraged to apply for scrutiny if dissatisfied with results.

On March 25, 2025, the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) officially announced the results of the Class 12 intermediate examinations amid a progressive yet slightly declining trend in pass rates. This year, the overall pass percentage stood at 86.56%, a slight drop from last year's 87.21%, and significantly higher than 2023's 83.73%. The results were revealed at a press conference led by Bihar’s Education Minister, Sunil Kumar, and BSEB Chairman, Anand Kishore.

Throughout the examination period, which took place between February 1 and February 15, 2025, the BSEB registered a total of 12,92,313 students across 1,677 centers in Bihar. This included 6,50,466 boys and 6,41,847 girls, with an overall appreciation this year for the academic performance of female pupils, who consistently outperformed their male counterparts across all streams.

This year's examination revealed impressive performances in various disciplines, with the topper rankings showcasing high achievements. In the Science stream, Priya Jaiswal clutched the top spot with an outstanding score of 484 marks (96.8%). Closely following her were Akash Kumar and Ravi Kumar, who scored 480 marks (96%) and 478 marks (95.6%) respectively. The Commerce category featured Raushani Kumari as the leader with 475 marks (95%), and in the Arts stream, both Ankita Kumari and Shakib Shah obtained 473 marks (94.6%).

Xeroxed from last year’s slightly better results, the overall performance statistics indicated a need for improvement in the Arts stream, which achieved a pass percentage of 82.75%, compared to 89.50% in the Science and 94.77% in Commerce. Despite the decrease in the overall percentage, there remains a steady upward trend in pass percentages over the years, indicating robust academic growth. For instance, the overall pass percentages have risen from 79.76% in 2019 to a commendable 86.56% this year, showcasing the dedication of students and the efficacy of educational policies in the state.

The BSEB has also introduced measures for students who feel disappointed with their marks. Students believing their answers need reevaluation can submit requests for scrutiny from April 1 to April 8, 2025. This process comes as a lifeline for students aiming to enhance their results, allowing them the opportunity to reassess their performance and maintain their standing in academics.

While students gear up to apply for further studies, assessing their options is crucial. Education experts have stressed the importance of making informed career decisions and course selections to guide students toward fulfilling future endeavors. The board also aims to release results for the intermediate special and compartmental examinations by May 31, 2025, ensuring no student loses a year in their educational journey.

In terms of gender performance statistics, girls have excelled with a pass percentage surpassing that of boys, maintaining last year's trend. In 2024, the pass percentage for girls was 87.11% compared to the boys’ 85.69%. Such consistent performance can largely be attributed to government initiatives like the Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana, which promotes the education of girls, alongside other scholarships designed to assist students financially.

Moreover, students are advised to remain vigilant against fake websites posing as official platforms for result verification. The authentic portals for checking results are interresult2025.com and interbiharboard.com, reinforcing the board’s commitment to ensuring accurate and reliable access to results.

Overall, the BSEB continues to demonstrate improvements in educational outcomes within the state, underscoring the resilience of students amid challenges. With a noticeable attention toward the future and a keen focus on supporting students through scrutiny applications, the BSEB strives to maintain its reputation as a progressive educational authority in Bihar.
