Bickel Krabbé, the son of well-known presenter Martijn Krabbé, is currently focused on creating his debut album. In a heartfelt interview with RTL Boulevard, he shared insights into the unconditional support he receives from his family during this creative journey.
“My dad thinks it’s great!” Bickel exclaimed enthusiastically when discussing his father’s reactions to his music. He often plays his songs for Martijn, who has always been supportive. “When I still lived at home, I had to let the family hear every song that was finished,” he reflected, indicating the close-knit nature of their family.
As Bickel continues to develop his musical style, he also mentioned the significant role his younger brother, Achilles, plays in his artistic growth. “Now that he’s getting older, he gives better musical advice,” Bickel noted, adding that while he sometimes finds it awkward to take advice from his younger sibling, he acknowledges that Achilles has a knack for it. “Sometimes he says something about a song, and I initially think, ‘What do you know? Leave me alone, Achilles!’ But often, I come back to it and realize he’s actually right,” he admitted.
While there are no concrete plans for a collaboration yet, Bickel is open to the idea. “Nothing is scheduled, but it could happen,” he said, hinting at a potential future musical duo.
In addition to his music career, Bickel revealed that the Krabbé family is preparing for a significant trip to India next month. “We’re going to India with the whole family,” he shared during a conversation with SLAM! radio, visibly excited. “My dad has been there once before, but the rest of us haven’t. He thought it was important for us to make this trip.”
This journey takes on added significance following Martijn’s diagnosis with an incurable illness. Since learning of his father’s condition, Bickel has developed a deeper appreciation for the time spent with his family. “I’ve gained more appreciation for moments with my dad and the rest of the family,” he said, reflecting on how the diagnosis has changed his perspective on family time.
As Bickel Krabbé embarks on this new chapter in his life, he does so with the unwavering support of his family, particularly his father, who continues to inspire him through his music. The upcoming trip to India not only serves as a family bonding experience but also as a poignant reminder of the importance of cherishing every moment together.
