On May 8, 2025, Benidorm celebrated a significant milestone: the 700th anniversary of its foundation. A municipal corporation gathered to commemorate this historic occasion, which traces back to the signing of the Carta Pobla by Almirante Bernat de Sarrià on the same date in 1325. This document established Benidorm as an independent municipality, separate from the Barony of Polop.

The celebration also included the presentation of a commemorative stamp dedicated to Benidorm's 700 years of history, unveiled by Correos during the municipal assembly. As part of the ongoing celebrations, the Plaça de Sant Jaume is set to host a representation of the Carta Pobla on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 21:30, performed by the Grup Carta de Poblament of the Associació de Penyes Verge del Sofratge. The mayor expressed that the process of securing the stamp has been lengthy, describing it as a tribute to the cultural heritage of Spain and the historical significance of communication.
