Belpochta Adjusts Parcel Rules For Holidays

National postal service streamlines express deliveries for busy season.

Belpochta, the national postal service of Belarus, is set to implement temporary adjustments to its express parcel acceptance rules come January 6 and 7, 2025, amid the holiday rush. These modifications are primarily aimed at alleviating the overwhelming volume of parcels at postal facilities during this busy season.

According to the press service of the enterprise, on January 6th, the acceptance of express parcels will be limited exclusively to the following cities: Brest, Baranovichi, Bereza, Pinsk, Polotsk, Vitebsk, Glubokoe, Zhlobin, Gomel, Kalinkovichi, Mozyr, Lida, Grodno, Bobruisk, Mogilev, and Minsk, with all parcels being delivered the next day. On January 7th, the acceptance will revert to standard operating modes, with no next-day delivery services available.

This temporary change aims to simplify the parcel delivery process and reduce congestion within the postal system, ensuring consumers can receive their packages timely during the holidays. The adjustments will help manage the heightened demand seen during this period, as citizens often send and receive gifts and other items.

"Belpochta changes the rules for receiving parcels," confirmed through the enterprise's formal announcements. This move highlights the organization's proactive approach to managing the seasonal surge of postal activity.

The new acceptance rules will only impact operations on these specific two days, allowing Belpochta to facilitate more efficient handling of deliveries. Also, it is emphasized by the company’s representatives, "On January 6, the acceptance of parcels will only be carried out for specific city addresses with next-day delivery." This highlights the focused and strategic manner which the postal service is addressing parcel management during the holiday season.

Looking beyond these temporary measures, from January 1, 2025, Belarus will enforce new regulations for submitting goods information with inbound parcels. This upcoming change will require the submission of data exclusively through the electronic system developed by RUP Belpochta, where each shipment will be assigned a unique registration number. Such information must be submitted before goods are delivered to the places of customs control, primarily affecting parcels sent to individuals from EAEU member states.

This change aligns with broader modernization trends across postal services globally, ensuring compliance and enhancing operational efficiency. Details on how to connect to the new system, as well as comprehensive information on international mail control, are readily available on the official Belpochta website.

Overall, these adjustments by Belpochta reflect the organization's commitment to enhancing service during peak periods, which is particularly beneficial to consumers who rely on timely parcel delivery around the holidays. The upcoming changes not only aim to ease the holiday rush but also lay the groundwork for more organized and efficient customs operations moving forward.
