Beca Rita Cetina Program Launches Financial Aid For Students

The Mexican government initiates support for secondary students to prevent school dropouts with bimonthly payments.

The Beca Rita Cetina is a new student program initiated by the Mexican government aimed at providing financial support to secondary school students in public education. Launched in early February 2025, this initiative seeks to combat school dropouts by offering monetary assistance directly to families.

Under this program, each beneficiary family will receive a bimonthly payment of 1,900 pesos, with an additional 700 pesos for each extra student enrolled in public secondary schools. The Secretariat of Public Education (SEP) has confirmed that the payments are set to begin in April 2025, following the distribution of Banco Bienestar cards.

As of now, students and their families are eagerly anticipating the release of these funds. According to SEP officials, the first payments will be issued during the last week of April. However, beneficiaries have been advised to stay informed about their payment dates, as the exact days may vary.

Mario Delgado, the head of the SEP, confirmed that the last day for families to collect their Beca Rita Cetina cards is March 31, 2025. This deadline is crucial, especially since classes will not be held on March 28 due to a scheduled School Technical Council meeting, effectively reducing the time available for families to collect their cards.

To ensure they receive their funds, beneficiaries must check their Banco Bienestar cards regularly. The SEP has emphasized that while the payments are scheduled, administrative delays may occur, which could affect when the funds are actually deposited into the cards.

Importantly, the Beca Rita Cetina cards do not require activation. They will automatically activate with the first deposit. However, it is essential for recipients to change the Personal Identification Number (PIN) on their cards to secure their funds and prevent unauthorized access.

For those who are still waiting to receive their cards, the SEP has provided a resource known as the “Status Finder” on their official website. By entering the beneficiary’s CURP, families can verify the exact date their payment will be available. This feature is particularly useful for those who received their cards late in March, as they can expect their first payment within 10 to 15 days after receiving the card.

As the Beca Rita Cetina program continues to roll out, it is expected to expand its reach beyond secondary school students to include children in preschool and primary education in future phases. This expansion reflects the government's commitment to supporting education and reducing dropout rates across all levels of schooling.

The requirements for collecting the Beca Rita Cetina card include presenting official identification for parents or guardians, a birth certificate, proof of residence, and the CURP of the student. This documentation is essential for ensuring that all beneficiaries are properly registered and able to access their funds without complications.

In summary, the Beca Rita Cetina program represents a significant effort by the Mexican government to support families and encourage students to remain in school. With the first payments expected soon, many families are hopeful that this financial assistance will make a meaningful difference in their educational journeys.

For any questions or further clarification, beneficiaries can reach out to the program’s official channels or contact the provided helpline. The government is keen on ensuring that all eligible families can access this vital support without hurdles.
