Beata Mazurek has been appointed the new CEO of Lubelskie Dworce S.A., effective February 1, 2024. This announcement was made on February 10 by Remigiusz Małecki, spokesman for the Lublin Marshal's Office, who noted the importance of this leadership change.
Mazurek is succeeding Tomasz Tokarski, who previously held the position. The change was deemed necessary by the Supervisory Board of Lubelskie Dworce as the company faces shifts in its operational strategy following the recent inauguration of the new metropolitan bus station.
Lubelskie Dworce S.A. has been primarily responsible for the management of the old bus station, located near the Lublin Castle. With the new metropolitan bus station operational since January 2024, many carriers have relocated, significantly affecting the company's original activities.
A seasoned politician and public servant, Beata Mazurek has had an extensive career. From 2015 to 2019, she served as a member of parliament representing the Law and Justice party (PiS). During this time, she was the party's press spokesperson and later served as the Deputy Marshal of the Sejm from 2018 to 2019. She also entered the European Parliament after the 2019 elections but chose not to run for re-election last year.
"Decyzją Rady Nadzorczej Lubelskich Dworców SA od 1 lutego br. Beata Mazurek została powołana na stanowisko prezesa zarządu Lubelskich Dworców SA," remarked Małecki, providing insight on her appointment.
Aside from her political roles, Mazurek has also held positions such as director at the Voivodeship Labour Office and has experience as a city council member for Chełm from 2002 to 2005. Notably, she is also well-educated, holding degrees from the Catholic University of Lublin, including sociology and postgraduate studies focused on management.
Finally, the future of Lubelskie Dworce under Mazurek's leadership appears challenging yet promising. The shifts necessitate new strategies, especially with the dwindling activity at the old station. Małecki confirmed, "Zmiana na stanowisku prezesa jest podyktowana koniecznością przygotowania zmian w strategii dalszego funkcjonowania przedsiębiorstwa," highlighting the need for innovation as the company adapts.
To sum up, Beata Mazurek is stepping onto the public transport stage at a pivotal moment, tasked with steering Lubelskie Dworce through significant operational transitions and challenges. Her previous experiences may well play a significant role as she leads the company through this new phase.
