Béatrice De La Boulaye Returns To The Stage And Screen With Strength

Actress opens up about her battle with cancer, new projects, and the return of Tropiques criminels.

Béatrice de La Boulaye, the renowned French actress, finds herself at the heart of media attention as she prepares for the much-anticipated return of the series Tropiques criminels on France 2. Premiering on March 14, 2025, the sixth season promises not only thrilling twists but also compelling romantic narratives, reminiscent of iconic TV couples.

During her recent interview with Gala.fr, she opened up about her excitement for the show’s new season. “There’s so much happening this season,” she revealed. “We were worried it might lose steam, but it hasn’t at all! It’s packed with dramatic turns and even some romantic comedies for both me and Sonia Rolland.” Béatrice's character, Gaëlle, is due to explore her relationship with Aurélien, played by Julien Béramis, much like the classic dynamic of Mulder and Scully from The X-Files, or Ross and Rachel from Friends. "I can’t tell you what will happen, but the end of season five left plenty of hints," she added mysteriously.

The actress also described her approach to intimate scenes, noting the importance of creating chemistry and trust with her co-stars. "It’s like life; if there’s chemistry, it flows effortlessly. I don’t have issues with it, and we often joke if there’s any awkwardness," she explained. Beyond the screen, Béatrice cherishes her professional relationship with Sonia, whom she considers as close as family. "We often joke about living just 100 meters apart. It’s like we have our little sisterly bond," she said with warmth.

Béatrice isn’t just focused on acting; she has also embarked on her solo show titled Héroïnes, which she describes as exploring women's relationship with femininity. “I stumbled upon this project. We had planned another theater production, but it fell through, yet I felt the urge to fill the void. It became this beautiful exploration of the feminine experience,” she shared.

Her personal life has also had its share of challenges. Diagnosed with breast cancer, Béatrice has been vocal about her experience and encourages regular screenings. "I was diagnosed early, and it was purely by chance. I want to urge women to take control of their health because early detection can make all the difference," she stated. Reflecting on her mastectomy, she noted, “I accepted my new body quickly. It’s like I stepped from one room of my life and settled straight away in another. It’s become part of my identity now,” emphasizing her resilience.

Naively bravely, Béatrice even participated topless during season five of Tropiques criminels. "It felt like flipping fate the bird! Performing topless was liberatory for me, proving one can endure and overcome," she explained with laughter. These bold moments, coupled with her art, encouraged her to embrace her situation and express herself freely.

Yet, it isn’t just the professional aspects of her life taking shape. Béatrice has been married to Guillaume de Tonquédec for fifteen years. They were friends before turning partners, sharing laughter about how their mutual recognition of love blossomed. “It’s incredibly rewarding, and the absence only strengthens our bond,” she shared humorously.

The actress is set to transition to new roles, including portraying a judge in the upcoming series Bandits created by Éric Rochant. "I'm incredibly excited to enter this new workspace and see how he orchestrates his narratives," she expressed, eager to return to filming.

Not only is Béatrice focusing on new roles, but she is also embarking on writing projects alongside François Vincentelli, crafting a Christmas romantic comedy they plan to film this winter. "I’m always writing with friends, waiting for compelling roles to come my way, so I stay busy!" she added with enthusiasm.

Finally, as Béatrice prepares for the new season and her performances of Héroïnes on March 15, 18, and April 26, she embraces each project as another opportunity to share her stories and artistry. "It’s all part of the adventure," she concluded, leaving fans and followers eager for what lies ahead for this multifaceted actress. Her strength and passion shine through every role she takes on, making her not only a star on screen but also an inspiration off it.
