Batelco, part of the Beyon Group, has joined forces with Qareeb Data Centres to develop the first White Space Data Centre at Beyon Data Oasis, marking an exciting milestone for the Kingdom of Bahrain. This collaborative effort aims to transform Bahrain's technological infrastructure and strengthen its position as the hub of digital services in the Middle East.
The new facility is billed as “first-of-its-kind” and is currently under construction, signaling both companies’ commitment to delivering cutting-edge data solutions for regional clients. Recently, during the Capacity Middle East 2025 event, Batelco and Qareeb formalized their plans by signing Heads of Terms, building upon the memorandum of Understanding (MOU) established at the Gateway Gulf Forum held last November.
Batelco’s Chief Global Business Officer, Hani Askar, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership. “This is a key milestone toward the new Data Centre at Beyon’s Data Oasis, which is in line to be the biggest technology hub in the Kingdom of Bahrain. We are delighted with the progress made so far and look forward to finalising plans in the coming months,” he stated. With this new endeavor, the company aims to bolster its offerings within the digital ecosystem.
Qareeb Data Centres, recognized as the Middle East’s first edge data centre provider, shares this commitment. Annemarie Van Zadelhoff, Qareeb’s Chief Strategy Officer, remarked, “We look forward to delivering this first-of-its-kind data centre in Bahrain as well as key colocation services in collaboration with Batelco, providing in-demand services for major customers around the Middle East region and beyond.” This collaborative model is set to provide significant benefits to companies seeking state-of-the-art technology solutions.
The White Space Data Centre is expected to lead innovation not just locally but also to cater to growing demand from various sectors across the region, addressing the urgency for modern digital infrastructure. The strategic location at Beyon Data Oasis positions this facility as the backbone of connectivity for numerous businesses eager to adapt to fast-paced digital transformations.
This partnership is not just about the physical data center but also about establishing Bahrain as a leader in technology services. The shift to edge computing is particularly relevant for companies aiming for greater efficiency and lower latencies, as it brings data processing closer to the source of data generation.
The anticipated completion of this project could have far-reaching impacts, enhancing not only the capabilities of Batelco and Qareeb but also the overall economy of Bahrain. By aligning infrastructure development with the needs of the modern digital economy, the two companies are not only responding to current demands but are also setting the stage for future advancements.
With Batelco’s extensive experience as a provider of comprehensive telecommunications and digital services and Qareeb’s focus on cutting-edge edge data technologies, this partnership is poised to succeed. Preparations are underway as both companies look to finalize plans and details of the Data Centre’s operations.
Industry experts are already viewing this venture as a game-changer for the tech sector within Bahrain, noting how it will significantly improve service delivery and digital solutions for businesses across the region. Stakeholders are optimistic about the innovations and efficiencies this project will bring to the burgeoning digital economy.
This collaboration between Batelco and Qareeb is not merely another business agreement; it symbolizes Bahrain's ambition to become a global player in the tech arena. It reflects both companies’ commitment to delivering exceptional services aimed at accelerating digital transformation across various industries.
Looking forward, Batelco and Qareeb plan to continue their momentum, potentially exploring additional partnerships and technology solutions aimed at enhancing their service portfolios. The new data center is just the beginning of what promises to be a flourishing chapter for both Batelco and Bahrain’s technology infrastructure.
With efforts firmly structured and operations set to begin as planned, Bahrein stands at the threshold of becoming not just a regional technology hub but perhaps even inspiring other locations to rethink their digital strategy aligned with modern demands. The commitment shown by Batelco and Qareeb may well usher in a new era of data processing and digital service delivery, setting Bahrain on the map as it enters the next phase of technological evolution.
