Baltimore Weather Forecast: Rain And Thunderstorms Loom This Weekend

Residents prepare for St. Patrick's Day events amid shifting weather conditions.

Foggy and cloudy conditions are predicted to envelop Baltimore on Saturday, March 15, 2025, transitioning later to rain and potential thunderstorms on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. Beginning with morning drizzle and patchy fog, temperatures are expected to reach around 54 degrees Fahrenheit, with southeast winds sustained at 5 to 9 mph.

On Saturday evening, expect persistent fog between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m., ushering in continued cloud cover and maintaining temperatures around 54 degrees.

Sunday, as St. Patrick's Day approaches, brings heightened anticipation alongside more hazardous weather. A substantial 90% chance of showers and the possibility of thunderstorms after 2 p.m. will accompany warmer air, resulting in highs nearing 69 degrees, complemented by gusty winds potentially reaching 23 mph. The St. Patrick's Day parade and Shamrock 5K race, which are typically held rain or shine, will be closely monitored for thunderstorm developments. Parade organizers have stated on their Facebook page, "The parade's organizers are monitoring the weather for thunderstorms."

Negative weather could affect attendance and participation rates for these popular community events, emphasizing the unpredictable nature of early spring climates, particularly on festive occasions.

Sunday evening forecasts indicate continuing rain chances, with another potential thunderstorm alongside patchy fog and wind gusts of up to 20 mph, leading to minimum temperatures around 53 degrees. These conditions may compel residents and attendees to reconsider plans for outdoor celebrations.

Moving forward to the workweek, Monday, March 17, is anticipated to begin damp, with forecasters predicting rainy spells and about 30% chances of precipitation primarily before 2 p.m., maintaining relatively mild temperatures near 61 degrees.

By Tuesday, conditions are expected to brighten substantially, with clear skies and warmer temperatures suggested at 66 degrees. Continuing this trend, Wednesday will likely bring more sunshine and pleasantly warm conditions, possibly reaching highs around 71 degrees.

According to various reports, Baltimore is poised for fluctuation between damp, wintry conditions and sunnier days as the current pattern shifts. The weather, being notoriously fickle during March, displays the usual ebb and flow of seasonal weather, drawing residents to prepare accordingly.

The combination of fun community traditions, like the upcoming St. Patrick's Day events and the capricious weather, brings together excitement and caution, as locals prepare for all possibilities this weekend.

Experts continuously stress the importance of following updated forecasts as events evolve, and the safety of participants, particularly during periods of storm unpredictability, remains of utmost importance. Individuals planning to partake should be ready for both raincoats and party hats, reflecting the spirit of Baltimore once the storms clear.
