BAD DÜRKHEIM – Recent police reports from Bad Dürkheim have revealed two notable incidents occurring during the Christmas period of December 2024, prompting authorities to call for public assistance.
One of the more alarming events happened between December 22, at 5:00 PM, and December 23, at 7:00 AM, when unknown assailants attempted to break-in at a medical building located on Wellsring. According to police reports, the suspects used some form of tool to forcefully try to pry open both the entrance door of the practice and the door to a storage area. Fortunately, the perpetrators were unsuccessful, resulting only in damage estimated at 1,500 euros. The police are now seeking the help of anyone who may have witnessed suspicious individuals or vehicles during this timeframe. Witnesses are urged to contact the Bad Dürkheim police station at 06322/963-0 or via email at [email protected].
"This level of criminal activity is concerning, especially so close to the holiday season," noted Daniel Mischon, the head of the southern district service. Ensuring the safety of our community is our top priority, and we are committed to investigating this incident fully. Any leads from local residents could prove invaluable.
On December 25, at approximately 7:30 PM, another incident unfolded on Triftweg involving the rider of an e-scooter. The individual, identified as a 32-year-old male, was stopped by police for a routine traffic control. During the encounter, officers suspected he was under the influence of drugs, noting characteristic impairment signs commonly associated with substance use.
A drug test confirmed their suspicions, returning positive results for THC, the active component found in cannabis. Subsequently, he was asked to provide blood samples for testing. The situation escalated when officers checked the history of the e-scooter, which turned out to have been reported stolen from Pirmasens back in September.
The rider claimed he had received the scooter as a gift from a friend. "It’s disappointing to see incidents like these happening, particularly during the holidays when the community should feel safe and secure," said Mischon. He emphasized the department's commitment to addressing drug-related offenses. The police are currently investigating both the drug use and the circumstances around the scooter’s theft.
Both incidents underline the broader issues of security and public safety, as officials urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. The Bad Dürkheim police have made it clear they are dedicated to keeping the community informed and safe during these festive times.
Authorities plan to increase patrols during the holiday season as they intensify their efforts to deter crime and address the issues of drug use among drivers. "We want to remind everyone to celebrate responsibly and remain aware of their surroundings," emphasized Mischon.
The police are also asking anyone with information about the attempted break-in on Wellsring or the e-scooter incident to come forward, as this could significantly aid their investigations. Community cooperation is seen as pivotal for combating crime effectively.
With the holiday season underway, Bad Dürkheim's residents are encouraged to look out for one another to maintain the spirit of community and safety. Anyone witnessing suspicious behavior or having any information should not hesitate to contact local law enforcement.
