Actress and model Ayami Nakajo, 28, made a vibrant appearance at the presentation for Rohto Pharmaceutical's new eye drop product, Mytear Almildファイ, held in Tokyo on April 17, 2025. The event celebrated the launch of a new commercial titled 'Tsuini Tanjou Hen,' which will begin airing nationwide on April 18, 2025.
Mytear Almildファイ is notable for containing Japan's first bloodshot eye relief ingredient, primonizin tartrate. As the product's ambassador, Nakajo expressed her excitement about the new campaign and the importance of eye care, especially during the current season when pollen and PM2.5 levels can cause eye irritation.
"I’ve noticed my eyes getting bloodshot, so I applied the drops just before coming out to brighten my expression," Nakajo stated, emphasizing the product's role in enhancing her appearance.
During the presentation, Nakajo donned a striking blue dress that matched the product's packaging, moving away from the pure white attire she wore in the commercial. This choice was intentional, as she wanted to showcase the refreshing and clear feeling associated with Mytear Almildファイ.
Reflecting on her experience filming the commercial, Nakajo described the atmosphere on set as both professional and friendly, noting that the filming team was primarily from Osaka. "It was fun because the team spoke in Kansai dialect, which created a warm and relaxed environment amid the tension of filming close-ups of my eyes," she recalled. "We were all focused on creating a great commercial together, and the camaraderie made it enjoyable."
In the new commercial, Nakajo aims to convey the message of achieving clear eyes and the confidence that comes with it. She believes that taking care of one's eyes is crucial, especially in a world where first impressions matter. "The impression of our eyes is significant, and I prioritize eye makeup in my daily routine," she explained.
In addition to her work in modeling and acting, Nakajo has taken up the tea ceremony as a means of relaxation and self-reflection. "About four years ago, I started practicing tea ceremony to learn more about hospitality and to clear my mind. It helps me to focus and feel refreshed," she shared. This practice not only aids her mental clarity but also enriches her understanding of cultural traditions.
The presentation also featured a talk session on bloodshot eyes, led by ophthalmologist Dr. Sato and MC Mori. They discussed common causes of eye redness and ways to improve awareness about eye health.
As Nakajo looks to the future, she expressed her desire to continue learning and exploring new interests. "Even 60 years from now, I hope to still be surfing and studying languages. I want to keep challenging myself and find joy in new experiences," she said with a smile.
With the launch of Mytear Almildファイ, Nakajo hopes to inspire others to pay attention to their eye health. "I want to encourage everyone to be mindful of their eye care and to feel confident with clear, bright eyes. Through the Mytear Almildファイ commercial, I hope people will be more aware of the importance of their eye health," she concluded.
The Mytear series celebrates its 60th anniversary this year, marking a significant milestone for Rohto Pharmaceutical. Nakajo's involvement as the ambassador highlights the brand's commitment to promoting eye care and enhancing the lives of its consumers.
As Nakajo continues to balance her busy career with personal interests, she remains a role model for many, showcasing the importance of self-care and confidence in everyday life. Her message resonates with those who seek clarity, not just in their eyes but in their overall well-being.
