AvtoVAZ Unveils Exciting Updates For LADA Niva And Iskra

The iconic LADA Niva receives a new color and engine upgrade while the LADA Iskra prepares for its upcoming launch.

AvtoVAZ, the renowned Russian automotive manufacturer, has announced exciting updates for its iconic LADA Niva and the upcoming LADA Iskra models. These developments are set to enhance the appeal and performance of these vehicles, catering to both loyal customers and new buyers alike.

Recently, AvtoVAZ assembled a full batch of LADA Niva Legend SUVs, now painted in a striking new dark blue metallic enamel known as 'Captain'. According to insider reports from the Avtograd social media community, approximately 20-25 of these vehicles are currently awaiting validation near the eighth building of the AvtoVAZ facility. The first two SUVs in this eye-catching color rolled off the assembly line back in March 2025, marking a significant addition to the Niva's color palette.

The current color options for the legendary Niva include five shades: classic white 'Iceberg', black 'Panther', dark green 'Nessie 2', and two metallics, silver 'Platinum' and golden-brown 'Coriander', which come with an additional fee of 15,000 rubles. The 'Captain' shade is not exclusive to the Niva; it was also introduced for the LADA Vesta and Largus models in mid-March 2025.

In addition to the new color, AvtoVAZ is preparing for a significant modernization of the LADA Niva Legend later this year. The outdated 83-horsepower atmospheric engine from the Zhiguli will be replaced by a new 1.8-liter engine that produces 90 horsepower, which will also be featured in the LADA Niva Travel. Furthermore, AvtoVAZ President Maxim Sokolov announced the planned return of airbags to the classic Niva model, enhancing its safety features. Initially, a compromise solution will see the airbag installed in the side of the driver's seat, with future plans to integrate it into the steering wheel.

Meanwhile, the LADA Iskra Cross is making waves as it undergoes road tests in camouflage. A reader captured footage of this camouflaged vehicle speeding along Moscow Avenue in Tolyatti. The official launch of the LADA Iskra sedan is scheduled for April 2025, and this new model is positioned between the flagship LADA Vesta and the budget-friendly LADA Granta.

The Iskra will feature front-wheel drive, a front MacPherson suspension, and a rear semi-independent suspension with a torsion beam. It will be available with three engine options, all with a capacity of 1.6 liters, and will be the first LADA model to offer a six-speed transmission. As the company continues to innovate, the Iskra is expected to attract a diverse range of customers looking for reliability and modern features.

In terms of durability, AvtoVAZ has provided official data regarding the service life of its vehicles. The LADA Vesta is designed to last for 8 years or 120,000 kilometers of mileage, after which it may require major repairs or should be disposed of. In contrast, the LADA Largus boasts a longer service life of 10 years or 160,000 kilometers. The average annual mileage for LADA vehicles is estimated to be around 15–16 thousand kilometers.

To ensure longevity, AvtoVAZ emphasizes the importance of regular maintenance in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. The LADA Vesta is built to operate efficiently in a wide temperature range, from minus 40 to plus 45 degrees Celsius, making it suitable for various climate conditions.

When it comes to warranties, most LADA models come with a factory warranty of 3 years or 100,000 kilometers. However, the LADA Niva Travel has a unique warranty of 2 years without mileage restrictions, while the LADA Niva Legend has a warranty of 2 years or 50,000 kilometers.

As AvtoVAZ continues to innovate and enhance its vehicle offerings, the automotive industry is watching closely. With the introduction of new colors, improved engines, and safety features, the LADA Niva and Iskra are poised to make a substantial impact in the market. The company's commitment to quality and customer satisfaction remains evident as they strive to meet the changing demands of consumers.

In conclusion, AvtoVAZ is not just updating its existing models but is also preparing to launch new ones that promise to deliver on performance and reliability. The excitement surrounding the LADA Niva and Iskra highlights the brand's dedication to evolving with its customer base while maintaining the qualities that have made it a staple in the automotive world.
