Australian Idol Grand Finale Set To Crown 2025 Champion

Three talented finalists compete for the title and $100,000 prize in a star-studded showdown

As the highly anticipated two-part Australian Idol Grand Finale approaches, excitement is palpable across the nation. The show, which has captivated audiences since its reboot in 2023, is set to air its final episodes on April 6 and 7, 2025, featuring three talented finalists: 17-year-old Gisella Colletti from Western Australia, 17-year-old Iilysh Retallick from Culcairn, New South Wales, and 19-year-old Marshall Hamburger from Queensland. Each contestant has showcased remarkable talent throughout the season, and the stakes are high as they vie for the coveted title of Australian Idol 2025, a cash prize of $100,000, and a recording contract with Hive Sound Studios.

Scott Tweedie, who has been co-hosting the show alongside Ricki-Lee since 2023, shared insights into the pressure of announcing the winner live on air. According to Tweedie, the production team has implemented strict protocols to ensure accuracy during the announcement. "We have it written down, so there’s no way that communication can be wrong. So on the card we've got in our hands, it has the winner's name or who we're about to announce," he explained to Yahoo Lifestyle. The card is only provided to the hosts moments before the announcement, and the winner's name is handwritten to avoid any mix-ups.

While Tweedie plays a supportive role, he emphasized Ricki-Lee's experience and connection to the show, stating, "I think with those big moments, it really does work with Ricki-Lee leaning into it. Because of her DNA with Idol, I think she is the best at doing those really big announcements, and I’m there to back her up the whole way." The anticipation surrounding who will take home the title is mounting, with Tweedie admitting he has no idea who will win, making it an exciting prospect for both hosts and viewers alike.

The grand finale will kick off on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at 7 PM on Seven and 7plus, and promises to be a star-studded affair. The three finalists will perform alongside renowned guest artists, including Guy Sebastian, Wolfmother, Leo Sayer, Tina Arena, and Casey Donovan. Each contestant will have the opportunity to showcase their vocal prowess, with the winner being announced during the second part of the finale on Monday night.

Gisella Colletti, who is aiming to become the first West Australian to win the title, has garnered significant support from her local community. In a show of solidarity, her family has organized a live screening of the finale at The Victoria Park Hotel, where fans are encouraged to join. Her cousin, Amanda Ranieri, expressed excitement for the event, saying, "We are so excited. And also a bit nervous (for her). We just want all of WA to get behind her and support her. She is so talented." With around 40 family members and numerous friends expected to attend, the atmosphere promises to be electric.

Gisella has been vocal about her journey in the competition, revealing her past struggles with stage fright and how she has worked to overcome it. "I was not expecting to get this far honestly, there’s so much talent and in my mind, I was like ‘if I go, then it’s OK, I’ve got this far and I’m proud of it myself’,” she shared. The support from her fans has been overwhelming, and she has been proactive in encouraging them to vote, particularly noting the voting schedule for her Perth audience. "Important information for Perth people: As daylight savings has ended you now vote @australianidol from 5 PM on Sunday til 5 PM Monday (24 hours to vote)," she posted on Facebook.

Meanwhile, Iilysh Retallick, another finalist, has captured the hearts of many with her unique style and powerful voice. Known for her rock-inspired performances, she has been a standout contestant, and her journey has resonated with viewers. Marshall Hamburger, affectionately dubbed "Burger Boy," brings a distinct flair to the competition with his passion for 1980s music and electrifying performances, making him a favorite among fans.

The judges of this season's Australian Idol—Marcia Hines, Kyle Sandilands, and Amy Shark—are set to oversee the finale, providing their insights and critiques as the contestants perform. The show has been a platform for these young talents to shine, and the judges' feedback will play a crucial role in shaping the contestants' final performances.

In a recent interview, Kyle Sandilands shared behind-the-scenes insights into the show, confirming that Australian Idol has already been renewed for another season in 2025. "They've already booked in the dates, I think, for next year. So Marcia says to me on the desk, last Monday night, she goes, 'did they tell you about the new dates?' And I went, 'of course, they f**king told me about the new dates a month ago,'" he joked. Sandilands's involvement in the show has been pivotal, and he has expressed his commitment to maintaining a homegrown feel to the judging panel.
