Asti Welcomes ‘Spazio Danza’ Celebrating Contemporary Dance

Asti is set to host a two-day contemporary dance event, "Spazio Danza," on March 28 and 29, 2025, aimed at celebrating the art of dance while ensuring accessibility for all audiences. This initiative is a collaboration among Piemonte dal Vivo, Lavanderia a Vapore, Teatro Alfieri, and Spazio Kor, promoting inclusivity and the artistic spirit of dance.

The festival kicks off on March 28 at 9 PM at the Teatro Alfieri with the performance of "Le Sacre du Printemps," brought to life by the innovative Dewey Dell company. This striking piece draws inspiration from Igor Stravinsky's famed work, exploring deep themes of rebirth and death through a rich choreographic language that fuses elements of dance and performing arts. Following the debut, the program continues on March 29 with two compelling performances. At 5 PM, the audience will witness "Op. 22 No. 2," a poignant solo by choreographer Alessandro Sciarroni, performed by Marta Ciappina. This intimate piece is inspired by Jean Sibelius's tone poem, "Il cigno di Tuonela," delving into themes of vulnerability and transformation. This performance will not only showcase Ciappina's grace but also aims to engage spectators on a personal level, allowing them to feel the emotional echoes of the choreography.

Later that same evening, at 8:30 PM, Spazio Kor will present "Cloud," a thought-provoking project by Giovanfrancesco Giannini. This performance invites viewers to contemplate the media’s portrayal of bodies and the politics of imagery. By immersing the audience in a digital array of data and personal memories, "Cloud" promises to be an engaging exploration of modern communication and its ramifications on self-perception and identity. As Giannini describes, the work will challenge the audience's perceptions of reality and encourage reflection on digital experiences.

Accessibility is a central theme for this festival, with multiple special features designed to cater to individuals with sensory impairments. All performances will include audiodescriptions, a crucial innovation that enables visually impaired attendees to engage fully with the artistic content. Additionally, "Op. 22 No. 2" and "Cloud" will provide tactile tours and poetic audiodescriptions, ensuring that each performance is as inclusive as possible.

Tickets for this extraordinary array of performances are reasonably priced, with a carnet for all three shows available for just 23 €. For those interested in attending both of the shows at Spazio Kor, a carnet can be purchased for 10 €. Reduced tickets are available for blind and visually impaired individuals, with accompanying guests granted free admission.
