The Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) officially declared the Assam HSLC Result 2025 on April 11, 2025, at 10:30 AM. The announcement marks an important milestone for over four lakh students who participated in the Class 10 board exams held from February 15 to March 3. While the excitement surrounding the results is palpable, the overall pass percentage this year stands at 63.98%, a noticeable drop from the previous year's rate of 75.7%.
Out of the 429,449 students who registered for the exams, 422,737 took part, with 6,712 absent. SEBA reported that 22 results were withheld and 101 candidates were expelled during the examination process. This year, the gender-wise performance revealed that male candidates outperformed their female counterparts, with a pass rate of 67.59% compared to the 61.09% achieved by female candidates.
Among the districts, Sivasagar led with an impressive pass percentage of 85.55%, followed closely by Dibrugarh at 81.10% and Dhemaji at 80.64%. In stark contrast, Kokrajhar recorded the lowest pass percentage at 38.84%, highlighting significant regional disparities in academic performance.
The results were made accessible through several official websites, including sebaonline.org and resultsassam.nic.in. Students could check their results by entering their roll number and captcha code. This year, SEBA opted to release the results in a gazette format, which is designed to streamline the declaration process and reduce server load. A digital mark sheet will follow shortly after the initial result release.
Top performers in the HSLC 2025 exams included Amishi Saikia from Pragya Academy Senior Secondary School in Jorhat, who secured the top position with an impressive 591 marks (98.50%). Following her were Saptarswa Bordoloi from Assam Jatiya Bidyalay, Noonmati, Kamrup (M), with 590 marks (98.33%), and Anirban Borgohain, also from Pragya Academy, with 589 marks (98.17%).
In terms of divisions, 89,041 candidates achieved a first division, while 135,568 passed in the second division, and 45,862 secured a third division. The performance of students from the ST (Plains) category was noteworthy, with a pass rate of 71.32%, demonstrating the effectiveness of targeted educational initiatives.
Despite the overall decline in pass rates, initiatives such as the Banikanta Kakoty Scooty Award and the Chief Minister’s Nijut Moina Scheme have been emphasized by Assam's Education Minister as critical for uplifting girl students and bridging the gender performance gap in academics. The stark contrast in results between male and female candidates has raised concerns about educational equity.
Students unhappy with their results will have the opportunity to apply for re-evaluation of their answer scripts, with SEBA expected to announce the application dates and fee details shortly after the results are released. Additionally, students who did not pass will be eligible to appear for supplementary exams, with a separate notification on the exam structure and registration process anticipated soon.
As the results were officially declared, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had previously confirmed that the HSLC results would not be published on April 10, 2025, ending speculation and confirming April 11 as the official release date. The announcement was met with a mix of anticipation and anxiety among students and parents alike.
Looking back, the previous year's results were announced on April 20, 2024, with a significantly higher overall pass percentage of 75.7%. This year’s drop of 11.72% in pass rates has prompted discussions on the need for improved educational strategies and interventions, particularly for marginalized communities. The Education Department plans to prioritize focused academic interventions and support programs in the 2025–26 academic year to address these disparities.
Students are advised to keep their HSLC roll number and registration number handy while checking results online to avoid any errors that could prevent access to the result portal. In light of the heavy traffic expected during result hours, SEBA has prepared multiple portals and mirror links to ensure a smooth online release. Students are encouraged to remain patient in case of server delays and to avoid using unofficial websites for result updates.
In summary, the Assam HSLC Result 2025 has brought forth a mix of achievements and challenges, reflecting the current state of education in the region. As students celebrate their successes or prepare for supplementary exams, the focus now shifts to how educational authorities will address the evident gaps and work towards a more equitable educational landscape in Assam.
