Assam Gunotsav 2025: A Milestone in Educational Assessment

Today, March 27, 2025, the Assam government celebrated a significant milestone in its educational journey with the announcement of the Gunotsav 2025 results. The event, held at the prestigious Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, was graced by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who highlighted the achievements of students and schools across the state.

Gunotsav, an initiative launched by the Assam government, aims to enhance the quality of education in elementary and secondary schools. This year, the program assessed the educational performance of 3,898,945 students from 44,077 schools, with the involvement of 17,585 external evaluators. The results not only reflect the academic progress but also identify areas needing improvement.

During the event, CM Sarma announced that 4,320 students would receive tablets under the Arohan Scheme, aimed at fostering digital education. Additionally, 11,594 schools that achieved an A+ grade in the previous Quality Festival 2024 will be recognized for their excellence and awarded an innovation grant of ₹25,000 each.

"Gunotsav helps to identify learning gaps of individual children and to take remedial measures accordingly," said CM Sarma. He emphasized the importance of aligning educational policies with the findings of the Gunotsav evaluations.

The Gunotsav assessment is conducted annually and evaluates schools on various parameters, assigning grades of A+, A, B, C, or D based on their performance. This comprehensive evaluation covers four broad areas: scholastic outcomes, co-scholastic activities, community participation, and the availability and use of infrastructure.

For the 2025 assessments, the grading system allocated 90% weightage to scholastic performance, while co-scholastic and community participation contributed 5% each. The results are crucial, as they inform necessary changes in the educational landscape, ensuring that schools meet grade-specific learning goals.

To check the Gunotsav 2025 results, students and schools can visit the official website at gunotsav2025.in. The process involves entering the required login details, including the school code and credentials, after which the results will be displayed on the screen.

The first Gunotsav was conducted in 2017, with 48,468 schools participating. At that time, only 6,037 schools (12.35%) received the A+ grade. The initiative has since evolved, and the percentage of schools achieving the highest grade has significantly increased. In 2024, 35.76% of schools were awarded A+ grades, showcasing a remarkable improvement in educational standards.

"Gunotsav serves as a platform for creating awareness among parents, teachers, and communities about the importance of educational quality," remarked Education Minister Ranoj Pegu. He noted that the initiative has fostered a sense of accountability and engagement within the education system.

As part of the event, the ISO 9001:2015 Certificate will also be handed over to Samagra Shiksha, Assam, recognizing the quality management systems in place within the state's educational framework.

Gunotsav is not just an assessment; it is a comprehensive approach to improving education in Assam. The evaluations are OMR-based, ensuring a standardized and fair assessment process across all participating schools. The initiative covers students from classes 1 to 9 in government and provincialized schools, tea garden management schools, Adarsha Vidyalayas, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, and residential schools.

In summary, the Gunotsav 2025 results mark an important step towards achieving educational excellence in Assam. With a focus on quality education, the state government is committed to addressing learning gaps and enhancing student outcomes. The initiative continues to garner support from various stakeholders, ensuring a brighter future for Assam's students.
