In a significant development for personnel in the Armed Forces and Police, arrears from the recently signed contract for the three-year period 2022-2024 will be paid out in May 2025. This contract stipulates a salary adjustment of 5.89%, effective from January 1, 2024, promising financial relief for thousands of service members.
The adjustments, which will be reflected in the payslip issued by NoiPA, vary based on rank and qualifications. According to official reports, the gross arrears for the year 2024 range from €1,087.04 for an Agent to €1,651.48 for a Chief Commissioner. For the year 2025, the amounts range from €334.48 to €508.15. These figures underscore the varying financial impact on personnel depending on their roles within the forces.
As the payment date approaches, many are eager to see how these adjustments will affect their financial situations. The arrears, which are due to the salary adjustments agreed upon in the new contract, cover not only the entirety of 2024 but also the first five months of 2025. The total gross amount for some individuals could exceed €2,200, providing a much-needed economic boost for the families of military and law enforcement personnel.
NoiPA is currently preparing to process these payments through a special payslip, tentatively scheduled for May 26, 2025. However, it is important to note that the permanent salary adjustment will not be reflected in the May payslip, as that processing is already underway. Instead, the adjustments will take effect from the June 2025 payslip, ensuring that personnel receive the increased amounts moving forward.
The calculation of these arrears involves several factors: a 5.89% increase on the annual gross salary, arrears for the 13 months of 2024, and arrears for the first five months of 2025. Additionally, the calculation subtracts amounts already disbursed as contractual vacancy allowance (0.5%) and contractual advance (3.35%). Notably, there will be no arrears for the years 2022 and 2023, as previous increases were absorbed by the contractual vacancy allowance already paid out.
The new contract also introduces various additional provisions, including new allowances for specific functions and an extension of extraordinary parental leave up to the child’s 12th birthday, aligning it with the INPS provisions applicable to other worker categories.
