Arezzo Calcio Plans Major Player Recruitment

Director Nello Cutulo outlines strategies to strengthen the squad and improve performance.

Arezzo Calcio has its eyes set on significantly enhancing its squad as the season progresses. Director of Sport Nello Cutulo provided insights on the club's recruitment strategy and the current state of the team during the mid-season review. With the team performing well compared to last season, Cutulo believes there are areas for improvement, particularly focusing on consistency and maintaining focus for the entire match.

"I don't give any marks, but the judgment is very positive. We are perfectly in line with the objective of improving on last season," Cutulo remarked, emphasizing the positive direction Arezzo is heading. Currently sitting 6 points off the leaders, he insists balance is key: "Balance must be the key word. It's a group where anything can happen." Cutulo mentioned their aim to remain competitive, reinforcing the notion of tactical growth alongside the organization’s ambitions.

The discussion leads directly to Arezzo’s upcoming market moves. The recruitment plan is to bring players who not only can add to the existing mix but also contribute significantly to the squad’s performance. Cutulo expressed his desire to seek out profiles capable of eleviating the team’s capabilities. He indicated the club's intention to recruit one central defender and one versatile center forward, as well as perhaps even another attacking winger.

"It could be [Ongaro], but he is not the only player we are following," Cutulo said, referring to American forward Easton Ongaro, currently playing at Novara. Ongaro has caught the eye with his physical presence and technical abilities, something Cutulo hopes will significantly impact Arezzo’s attacking options.

On the existing roster front, Cutulo revealed concerns about player performance and possible departures. He confirmed discussions about the future of Dario Del Fabro, who might be set to leave, saying, "I spoke with Dario's agent. He knows we will take a player in his role. And so it is right he can find a solution for himself." Regarding the forwards, both Ogunseye and Gucci’s contributions are under scrutiny, with Cutulo noting, "One of the two can leave." This suggests potential shifts within the squad to allow for new talent to come through.

While the recruitment plans are taking shape, the current formation shows promise. Renewals for key players like Trombini, Chiosa, and Santoro signal continuity within the squad, as they play significant roles on and off the pitch. Cutulo asserts, "Absolutely. Unless there are indecent proposals. If we want to grow we have to keep them," clearly indicating the club's strategy to maintain its core strength as they strive for improvement.

Coach Troise has also been under the microscope, with Cutulo expressing his confidence, stating, "I am extremely happy with the coach and his staff." He dismisses undue criticism, maintaining focus on broader goals for the team’s evolution. The Director supports the unity of the staff, emphasizing ambition and collaboration as the foundation for their uphill battle against other league teams.

Moving forward, Arezzo Calcio has set its eyes firmly on the remaining season, urging for improved performance and consistent results. With tactical formations, recruitment, and player management at the forefront, the club appears poised for both immediate and long-term success.
