Application Deadlines Extended For Italian National Civil Service

Young volunteers are now invited to apply until February 27, 2025, for various social inclusion projects.

Youth participation is set to benefit from the latest extension to application deadlines for Italy's National Civil Service (Servizio Civile Universale). According to recent announcements, young individuals now have until Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 2 PM to submit their applications for civil service roles across diverse projects aimed at social welfare and environmental stewardship.

On February 17, 2025, the head of the Department for Youth Policies and Universal Civil Service issued decree number 163/2025, confirming the new deadline. This decree outlined the reopening of the application process for 62,549 volunteer operator positions across both domestic and international initiatives as mandated by Article 5 of the service's selection notice, first published on December 18, 2024.

The extensions open the door for youths aged between 18 and 28 (up to 364 days) to engage actively through their contributions to community development and ecological conservation. One of the notable projects includes collaborative efforts with the Taxi Verde cooperative, with programs focusing on the wellbeing of elderly citizens and environmental sustainability.

This initiative will support seven volunteers from Vaccarizzo Albanese, with three units dedicated to the PIÙ ATTIVI, PIÙ SAGGI project, which aims to assist elderly individuals experiencing hardship. The remaining four positions will be granted through the COESI E SOSTENIBILI project, promoting social cohesion and sustainable practices.

Each selected volunteer will receive a monthly allowance of €507.30, allowing them to participate fully in the scheduled activities, including social laboratories, home support, digital literacy courses, and community clean-up campaigns. The objective is to not only alleviate social isolation among the elderly but also to educate communities about environmental responsibility through organized excursions and educational workshops.

To be eligible, applicants must possess either Italian or European citizenship, or valid residency permissions for non-EU citizens, alongside no serious criminal convictions. Applications must be submitted exclusively online via the DOL platform at https://domandaonline.serviziocivile.it.

Fasano's youth policies department has likewise publicized the extended deadline, encouraging potential volunteers to take advantage of this opportunity for civic engagement and personal growth.

This timely extension is expected to significantly boost participation rates and broaden the reach of several projects dedicated to enhancing community welfare and environmental sustainability. Interested candidates are urged to familiarize themselves with the application process before the looming deadline.
